Description

Sunshine Grove preserves the vintage charm of its 1920's roots, blended with modern amenities such as a freshly remodeled kitchen with stainless steel appliances, new touches in the bathrooms, and cozy comforts throughout. Beautifully refinished wood floors, an open beam ceiling in the living room and multi-paned windows add to the charm. French doors open to a private dining patio with gas BBQ and deck with a hot tub. Just off the living room, the master suite includes a full bathroom with shower and tub and double vanity. In the hallway that leads to the 2nd full bathroom and laundry, there are custom-built stairs to the 2nd bedroom. French doors at the hallway give the lofted bedroom full privacy.

You'll love cooking - inside or out - at Sunshine Grove and basking in your private retreat! Pack a picnic and walk to the Guernewood Park neighborhood beach on the Russian River or explore acclaimed wineries just minutes away. When you return, relax in the hot tub, fire up the BBQ, or check out fabulous restaurants in West Sonoma County. Families with kids and dogs will appreciate the fully fenced yard and proximity to playgrounds, activities and hiking trails.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours:
The maximum occupancy at Sunshine Grove is 6 people. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking:
There is parking for 2 to 3 cars in the driveway in front of the house. The garage is not available for parking. Street parking is scarce. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes:
First bedroom: Queen bed; Second bedroom: Queen bed; Living Room: Queen sleeper sofa.

Heat Source:
This house uses a combination of gas & electric heaters including a gas woodstove-style fireplace insert in the living room.

A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the night time temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house.

Stairs: There are two sets of stairs at the house: one with several landings from the parking area to the front door and one interior set of stairs to the 2nd bedroom. These stairs are nearly ladder-like, very sturdy and have non-slip material on them for your safety. We've included photos and hope you will contact us with any questions or concerns about the stairs.

Fencing: The yard is fully fenced.

Proximity to Wineries: Several tasting rooms in downtown Guerneville are approx. 1.5 miles walk or drive.

Nearest River Beach: The nearest river access is a 1 mile walk or drive.

Nearest Ocean Beach: The coastal beaches in Jenner are approx. 13 miles.

wonderfully relaxing

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at this home! We stayed here for part of a Napa Valley trip after staying in a hotel in downtown Napa (about 1 hour and 20 minutes away) and it was the perfect retreat while still being near some amazing Russian River Valley wineries. The house is nestled amongst the trees and was super clean and tidy when we arrived. The kitchen was well stocked for meals and, though it rained for part of our stay, we still got to enjoy the hot tub (which we found relatively private). The outdoor space is lovely! I will say that the house is a tad bit smaller than it appears in the photos and I think works best for 2 people as the second bedroom is up steep stairs and didn’t appear to have a door for privacy. Overall this property is in a quiet area, was very clean and well stocked (and decorated!), but still near attractions in the area. Thank you for a great trip! -via Airbnb

Such a cute house! Very chic decor, well-stocked kitchen, great dining room table, fireplace to cozy up next to, and a private hot tub outside. The deck/outside area was perfect - unfortunately, it was raining so we didn’t get to eat outside but the patio lights made for a great atmosphere. We rented this Airbnb for a weekend getaway and we were impressed with the peaceful neighborhood and the comfortable home including the beds and the couch. The kitchen was well equipped with good quality tools and we took advantage of the grill as well. I appreciated that the hosts were extremely responsive and gave me an update on the status of the neighborhood and the roads following a massive storm in Northern California. The location is close to some amazing restaurants in Guerneville and within a 25-minute drive to some outstanding Sonoma wineries. Definitely would stay again!

Funky quiet friendly neighborhood on windy narrow road. Artsy cute cottages. Attractive accomodations with small private yard. Great for keeping dogs secure, but no grass or area for them to play due to elevation and rocks. Nice kitchen. Be aware that low is medium-high on most gas stoves. Bring your own food storage containers and wrap/foil. They did offer to resolve, but stay too short to bother. Slat was missing on bathroom blinds. Wonderful dinner at Main Street Bistro. Wonderful place for a getaway! The place was so cute and felt easy to make ourselves at home right away, and the fireplace in the morning felt so cozy! The patio space was absolutely wonderful to have and felt very private, we loved coming home to hang out after wine tasting and exploring the nearby coast. Also, for an Airbnb, the kitchen felt well stocked with anything you could need from cheese boards to serving trays to grill tools to lemon squeezers. The River Homes team made check-in/out very easy and it was nice knowing if anything had come up they were so responsive and easy to get a hold of. Great location among the redwoods and is accessible to all kinds of amazing things. Loved the (gas) fireplace that really did heat up the living room and the hot tub (which was pretty private), great dining room, overall pleasant place. Comfy beds, big kitchen. Outdoor area was a bit smaller than expected based on the photos, but its no biggie especially if you’re out adventuring. Like many places in the area, it's an older (well-kept) house so the floors are creaky ;)!-via Airbnb

Charming and cozy little cabin in the woods. This quaint home is nestled amongst the aromatic redwoods and pines but still a neighborhood; within easy driving distance to town. Comfortable beds, nice linens, and nice to have a full washer and dryer as well as outdoor hot tub. The private outdoor patio space is lovely but note that because the location is in a bit of a valley, sound carries. Something to keep in mind if you’re hoping to spend time outside dining, with kiddos or dogs who might make noise. The upstairs loft is a special treat, with the view of the trees.-via Airbnb

This home was really perfect for our weekend in Guerneville. Minutes from downtown and river access, but situated down a quiet road that helped make the home relaxing and peaceful. The home very very clean and really nicely designed, and the kitchen was well-appointed. The beds were very comfortable and the sofa was great for lounging and watching TV or movies (full cable set up!). The wifi also worked great. We especially loved the yard and the hot tub was awesome for early morning coffee and for evening wine. Highly recommend this home for a weekend on the Russian River! Our dogs agreed too!-via Airbnb

Great location, hot tub was awesome!! Fan in the bedroom was broken, needed a master's in engineering to figure out the fan in the living room. Great little yard to chill and have a beer in. Bed was way too soft for me but I usually expect that because I use an extra firm bed because of my back. Overall pretty great stay!!-via Vrbo

This is an older property that has been upgraded with all the expected niceties. Not luxurious so guests need to be okay with a bit of sagging in the furniture. stairs to second bedroom are narrow and second bathroom is main floor, not near this bedroom. Hot tub was well maintained. We would stay here again. Quiet area with no road noise from River Rd-via Vrbo

Nice small historic cabin with some upgraded modern conveniences and a short drive to downtown Guerneville. Property did not have air conditioning and got very hot during the day but cooled down quickly at night with the use of fans. Great outdoor patio space with a comfortable hot tub.-via Vrbo

We loved Sunshine Grove! What a great little cabin...it had everything our little family of 3 (plus dog) needed. The cabin was clean, easy to get to, well-appointed, had tons of character. While it is a small footprint, both the cabin and the deck/hot tub area made great use of the space. It was private, sunny and surrounded by beautiful redwood trees. The yard was also fenced in which was perfect for our pooch. Great little neighborhood just a few minutes from town but with limited traffic. Highly recommend for a couple or a small family. We had an excellent stay. The place was quiet and clean. It wasn't like staying in a hotel where there isn't much privacy. We definitely want to stay at the same place again next time. There was only one very small issue while we were there. We started cooking on the grill and the gas ran out. There was a second tank there but the blue tag showed it was new but it was empty because the valve was turn open. We just went and got another tank ourselves at the gas station near Safeway because we had already started cooking. This really wasn't a big deal as we all had a good time and hope we are allowed back again. Thank you, Ellen.-via VRBO

We had a nice stay in this home. The space is clean and the modern styling is very fun. Beds and sofa were comfortable. We did puzzles on the large dining room table. The exterior space is more of a large deck/patio than a yard, but it is fully fenced, which is wonderful. Loved the hammock! The neighborhood was quiet and we felt pretty secluded from the neighbors, though they are close in proximity. For sure the upstairs is for the fleet of foot only--I knew not to let our dog climb up there because we'd have had difficulty getting her back down (there is a door so that you can close off access, if necessary.) When we were there it was HOT out, so we appreciated the fans. Great location--so close to the town.-via Airbnb

Cute cottage, worked out great for 3-4 people and we felt right at home. Very well-stocked kitchen: we cooked all meals the 4 days we stayed there. Having the private little yard with outdoor eating space + hot tub was lovely. Sofa bed isn't the most comfy if you end up using it - just needs some additional padding. Super convenient location for exploring the river and then going out to Jenner! We hope to be back.

Great property that is perfect for bouncing to the coast, wineries or staying local and enjoying the river and redwoods. Very quiet and peaceful. Hot tub and hammock were a perfect touch and we loved taking morning walks to the coffee shop / bakery about a half mile away. Appreciated that the hosts had condiments, coffee filters, extra towels for the hot tub and lots of cozy blankets for hanging out by the fire. Neighbors are close and were up a bit early but wasn’t too big of a deal. Stairs going to the upstairs room are indeed rather steep per the listing info so just be aware. Overall though it was the perfect spot for us (a couple but could also be great for two couples) and we would highly recommend.-via Airbnb

The space is absolutely lovely and the host is very sweet. The space had everything we needed—comfortable living and sleeping quarters with nicely renovated bathrooms and a kitchen with many tools/utensils. We loved cooking our meals in the kitchen and serving it in the outdoor area under the trees. Lastly, it even has a hot tub which was a perfect way to relax into the evenings. We also played some of the complimentary games like Scrabble on the comfy sofa in front of the gas fireplace. We relaxed at the space most of the time, but also took a short drive to hike among the redwoods. The host let us know that reception can be spotty, so we made sure to write down the access codes and wifi prior to arrival which helped a lot. All in all, I highly recommend this spot. Sunshine Grove was amazing for our family of four. It had everything we could ask for. It is tastefully decorated -- simple, clean, and uncluttered. The hot tub was perfect, and even serviced while we were there (ready to use 45 minutes later). The neighbors were quiet, the home is super close to the town, and the mattresses were comfy. It was such a wonderful place and we would definitely come back.

Sunshine Grove was very cute and comfortable, and we felt at home right away. It had everything we needed, including everything needed to cook meals in the kitchen, toiletries, and cozy bedding. There were plenty of beach towels, which was perfect for the hot tub - probably my favorite part. The string lights are a lovely added touch, and we felt secluded while still being close to everything. We did various 1-2 hour road trips each day to get the full Russian River / Sonoma County experience, but there are also spots closer to the house. Our hot water heater went out one of the days, but the River Homes team was quick to reply via phone and Airbnb messaging and had the issue resolved by the time we returned to the house that evening. Would definitely stay in a River Homes home in the future the next time we're in the area! Made my first trip to this region really wonderful.

Peaceful stay

My roommates and I were looking for a quiet, peaceful spot to get out of the city and spend some time amongst trees. This cozy home in Guerneville, close to town and a short drive from the coast, was perfect. This place is in a more residential area but it always felt private and was very quiet the whole time we were there. We loved sitting on the patio in the morning and having a coffee and of course relaxing in the hot tub at night. We found some great hikes not too far away and got to have a “best of both worlds” experience by being close enough to the forest trails to spend lots of time there during the day, but also being able to come back to a place with a full kitchen and a tv after :) We'd definitely return!

The home is well appointed without being overly designed. Home is cozy, yet roomy enough for a decent dinner party. Gas fireplace was wonderful and worked well for heating up the entire place. We had a wonderful time staying here.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sunshine Grove! The check-in was easy and the house has everything you need. The place is very clean and the kitchen is well furbished. We enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace as it got chilly in the evenings. The beds were very comfortable and the location was quiet with a short drive to Guerneville restaurants and shops. The place works well for two couples as the bedrooms are at different ends and thus, have their own privacy.via AirBnB

An absolute gem

What a great find! This place was just perfect for a weekend trip in wine country for me and two of my girlfriends. It felt very private, secure and quiet with tons of stylish touches like mid-century modern furniture, a modern kitchen, outdoor lightbulbs strung across the patio and a chic gravel driveway. We loved the hot tub, BBQ and outdoor seating and were able to cook at home one night which was great fun. The neighborhood has a calm and peaceful vibe, with stunning redwood trees all around. Just magical! Thank you, River Homes.

Beautiful house and area to stay in! Contrary to air bnb's notes it is dog friendly too and at no extra charge which was amazing. Comfortably housed 2 couples and was relatively close to everything. The road is tight getting back to it but you get used to it. The town itself was super packed for such a small area so be prepared for traffic! The house itself though was quiet and peaceful, great place and the managers were lovely to work with

My favourite retreat

I've been up to the Sunshine Grove spot a few times this spring and just can't get enough. As soon as you walk through the front gate you feel more chill. It's the perfect spot to relax all afternoon with friends post hike by the ocean, bike ride or swim in the river. We have a dog and he loves exploring around the front yard. Great spot, couldn't recommend it more!

We loved staying at this cozy, stylish, and convenient home for a weekend in May! The house has a wonderful open feeling with lots of light, and the gas stove offered plenty of heat on a cool night. The secluded yard is a great place for either a meal or dip in the hot tub. The house is also within walking distance of Guerneville where there are plenty of places to eat. Cozy, quiet and sunny oasis by the river!

This is our go to spot when visiting Guerneville! It's comfortable, cozy, warm, well-appointed and the patio is drowning in sunshine which is rare for this area. For city dwellers its the perfect spot for quiet and calm amongst the redwoods. The location is perfect, far enough outside of town to be away from it all yet close enough to head in for a drink at El Barrio or food at Boon.The kitchen is well designed and has everything you need. The showers are hot and strong. The beds are really comfortable. The house is beautifully decorated with original art and big windows and doors that bring the outside in. The hot tub is brand new and perfect for relaxing at the end of the day.On top of all that we could bring our dog who just loved lazing about in the sun on the deck. The yard is perfectly secure for your pups.Sunshine Grove is amazing value, I can't recommend it highly enough.
