You get a thoughtfully built, beautifully outfitted home tucked among towering redwoods — and you can walk to the river, the beach, River Electric, restaurants, mini golf, and downtown Guerneville in minutes.

It's the kind of place that works for everyone: multi-family trips, milestone birthdays, friend reunions, holiday gatherings. Guests come back year after year.

The Home
Racer Five is a tall, cheerful three-story home designed from the ground up for group living. The upper level is your gathering hub — a stunning open-plan kitchen, dining area, and living room that flow out onto a large deck with redwood views and a gas BBQ. A quieter back deck is the spot for morning coffee or an afternoon glass of wine.

A custom spiral staircase connects the upper and middle levels (exterior stairs work too). The middle level holds four bedrooms, a full bathroom, laundry room, and a second large deck — giving groups real room to spread out without being on top of each other.

The kitchen is the star of the show. It was built as a labor of love, and it shows: a professional Thermador range with 8 burners, double oven, and griddle; stainless steel appliances throughout; generous counter space; and exceptional lighting. Cooking a big meal here isn't a chore — it's an event. Guests rave about it in nearly every review.

Outside, the fully fenced yard — a third of an acre of redwoods — has something for everyone: a fire table, ping pong table, hammock, children's tree fort, and a separately fenced vegetable and herb garden (pick fresh ingredients for whatever you're cooking). It's gated and secure, ideal for kids and dogs to roam freely while adults relax around the fire.

Walk Everywhere
One of Racer Five's biggest selling points is location. Everything is genuinely close on foot:
River Electric Swim Club across the street, Guerneville River Park is 0.3 miles, the kids' playground (with tennis and basketball courts) is 0.3 miles, Pee Wee Golf is 0.2 miles, and Riverkeeper Park — a native habitat with educational trail markers — is 0.4 miles. Cross the historic walking bridge and you're in downtown Guerneville in under half a mile, with Johnson's Beach (the best sandy river access in town) just 0.6 miles away.

Maximum Occupancy: Up to 10 people not including kids under 3 years old.

Quiet Hours: 9:00 pm to 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times.

Parking: On-site parking is permitted for a maximum of 5 vehicles; there is space in the driveway for up to 4 cars; additional street parking is available on a first-come first-served basis. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bathrooms: 2 full bathrooms — one on each level on hallways.
Upper level bathroom: Shower over bathtub.
Middle level bathroom: Shower over bathtub.

Square Footage: 1700 sq ft

Heating/Cooling: Central heat throughout. No A/C, but the coastal location means nights cool down quickly — open windows do the job. Fans are available.

Kitchen:
Fully stocked kitchen with Thermador professional double oven and 8 burner range, dishwasher and garbage disposal.
Drip coffeemaker, Espresso maker, French press.
Just bring your groceries!

Stairs: This is a multi-story home with three flights of exterior stairs and an interior spiral staircase between levels. It's not suited for guests with significant mobility limitations. Most guests find it is just good cardio.

Pets: Up to 2 well-behaved dogs welcome! The yard is fully fenced and gated. Please note the neighbor has vocal dogs — light sleepers and noise-sensitive dogs should factor this in.

Fencing: Fully fenced yard when the driveway gate is closed.

Remote work: High speed internet access and wifi.

TV: Large screen Smart TV in the living room with live TV stations through SlingTV via Firestick. Bring your streaming logins for specific apps.

Baby/Kid-Specific Items: Baby gate for interior stairs.

Other Outdoor / Seasonal Amenities:
Propane BBQ: Upper deck
Propane Fire Table: In the yard, available year-round.
Outdoor games: Ping-pong table, available year-round.
Hammock: Available in fair weather months.
Tree Fort: Raised deck built around a redwood tree with a ladder! The tire swing went away, sadly.
Guest Garden: Planted with seasonal veggies, herbs, fruit trees, and flowers for guests to enjoy during their stay.
The Vacation Rental Ordinance does not allow wood fires, so the outdoor wood firepit and pizza oven are no longer available.

No smoking inside or on the property.

Explore the Area:
Everything you need is within walking distance! Across the historic walking bridge, you'll find oodles of restaurants and cute shops (less than half a mile), Johnson's Beach (0.6 mile) with the best river access and sandy beach, and Riverkeeper Park (0.4 mile) featuring native plants and habitats with educational markers. On the south side of the river (same side as the house) you can walk to River Electric (240 ft), the Guerneville River Park (.3 mile), Pee Wee Golf (0.2 mile), and a kids’ playground (0.3 miles) with tennis and basketball courts.

Experience The River Electric: Directly across the street, day passes are available online for one of Guerneville’s hippest new spots - a camp resort, swim club, and event venue. Set on 12 acres of sunny meadows and redwood groves with two pools, a restaurant, and bar, open May through October with public hours daily from 11 am- 5 pm.

By car, you're 5 miles from Monte Rio, 13 miles from the Sonoma Coast at Jenner, and within easy reach of wineries in Healdsburg and Forestville.

3 families w total 4 kids, all under 4. We all loved the space. there is stairs to get to the main space but there is a baby gate for the top floor. The kids loved the yard space and areas, the parents loved the fire pit and pizza oven after bedtime. 10 min walk to the main river area, our 3-year-old did it without a stroller. responsive hosts, would definitely stay again. -via Airbnb

A lovely house by downtown and well stocked with everything! The only downside is that the upstairs gets very hot and also there were a few power outages (just because of the neighborhood, nothing because of the house itself). Easy to walk to the main drag or down to the beach.-via Airbnb

This place provided exactly what we were seeking -- a base to hang out with and entertain family and friends. We chose it in large part because of the promise of cooking facilities, including the pizza oven, and that did not disappoint. The kitchen is large and very well-equipped, and the outdoor kitchen space was inviting and enjoyable to use -- the ample counter space next to the pizza oven inspired our own thinking about a planned outdoor kitchen. Bathrooms and bedrooms were clean and comfortable. The well-fenced yard with treehouse was wonderful for kids and dogs. Two things for prospective guests to know: The kitchen is at the top of four flights of stairs, so a meal that involves kitchen prep and outdoor oven prep will mean lots of up and down -- fine for most of our group but daunting for the older members. And if you have a full house, there will be moments -- maybe morning shower time -- where you will wish for one more bathroom. That said, we'd rent this place again! -via Airbnb

We stayed in Guerneville over Christmas week 2023 with two families. The house was clean, with clear instructions from the responsive host. The layout, offering separate floors and bathrooms for each family, enhanced our privacy and comfort. Its proximity to Armstrong State Park and the Russian River was a highlight. Note for future guests: the entrance is on the top floor, challenging for those with accessibility concerns or heavy luggage. The AC fan can be loud at night, so you might prefer the room heaters. Internet connectivity was generally good for streaming, despite occasional drops and freezing, which is understandable in a remote location. Mobile reception was mediocre, particularly with Verizon. Despite the rain and limited dining options due to holiday closures, our stay was comfortable. We appreciate the hosting team’s efforts in accommodating us during this festive season. The location was top-tier and the accommodations were very nice. Only two issues were that the wifi was spotty and the dogs who lived next door barked non-stop all night and morning. We would stay here again. -via Vrbo

Roomy, comfortable house in a great location within walking distance of "downtown" Guerneville. The kitchen is big and well equipped, there are three decks for large groups to spread out on, and though the weather was very hot during our stay and the house has no air conditioning, we were never uncomfortable. This was the first time we stayed within walking distance of downtown. Fun to explore and walk to restaurants, ice cream and cute plant shop. Although there are a ton of stairs the outdoor space made up for it. Rooms are on the smaller side but enough space for two families to spread out.-via Airbnb

We had a wonderful time with our medium-size group. You cannot beat the location so easy to walk into town. Just to note, it’s off a lightly trafficked street and across from an RV park but given the house is four stories high you do feel away from it.-via Vrbo

We stayed here with our family and kids. The house was easy to find and parking was really easy. The gated yard made it super easy to have kids and dog playing in the yard safely. The treehouse, ping pong table and outdoor furniture made it easy for everyone to hang out together but still do their own thing. The kitchen and stove were really great and made it easy for everyone to cook together . Downtown is super close and we walked to get ice cream everyday. The hosts were very responsive and easy to communicate with . Thank you Alyssa ! The only downside were the number of stairs to get to the house entrance and the steep, winding stairs from the living area to the bedrooms on the lower level. The stairs are definitely challenging for older guests and for dogs also. It was also very warm the weekend we stayed but there are plenty of fans and the lower level with the bedrooms cools down a lot at night . Overall, I would recommend a stay here. It’s been one of our family’s favorite airbnb experiences.-via Airbnb

Great property for a large family or multiple families, and pet friendly was a huge plus. Nice kitchen that was very well equipped with high quality cookware. The yard and parking areas were large and the yard was a great place to hang out and enjoy the shade on warm days. The home and yard are very pet friendly and the full fencing was very secure and lockable. I would highly recommend this property and I would rent it again. We love this property. It is the second time we have stayed at this property and have enjoyed our stay. This property is in a great location within walking distance to just about everything. Just a stone’s throw from restaurants, bars, wine tasting, mini golf, river, Johnson’s beach, kayaking, etc. 30 minutes by car to the gorgeous Sonoma Coast and 20 mins to historic Duncan Mills or The Wildflower Bakery in Freestone. The house has most everything you could need including a gourmet kitchen with and amazingly large island to gather around, several decks, fire pits, tree house, garden, fantastic gas grill, outdoor tables for eating on the deck, huge wraparound sofa, and majestic redwoods right in the completely fenced yard. We LOVE this pet friendly home. We had lots of family fun and so happy to make memories with our loved ones roasting s’mores and having a ping pong tournament and just chasing the dog in the yard. The property is well kept, clean, and spacious. It is an absolute gem.-via VRBO

Walkable to downtown

Good house close to downtown Guerneville. Walkable to downtown. Top two levels of the home are used. We were four adults and three kids and we had plenty of room. A couple of nice decks and then a large outdoor ground-level area with a hammock, fire pit, outdoor oven, tree house, ping pong table, and garden. The kids enjoyed playing outside. Be aware that there are many stairs getting to the front door and a spiral staircase in between the two floors, so anyone coming to the house needs to be able to navigate them.-via Airbnb

Great place for a family, and even a dog! The space around the fire pit and bbq was excellent when the temperature rose and we could be down in the breezes under the redwoods. The ping pong table was a big plus too. Well equipped kitchen! Great communications with our host. -via Airbnb

We had a lovely stay! Our group of 9 women spent a long ladies weekend here, and loved the easy walking distance to town and the river. The beach was also an easy 20 minute drive away. The spiral staircase did seem a little steep for some of the gals in our group, but we enjoyed our time and would stay here again.-Via Airbnb

You can walk to the river and cross the bridge to downtown Guerneville in a matter of minutes. The beds were comfortable and everything was extremely clean. Lots of pots and pans to choose from to cook with and a nice fenced in area for the dogs. The stairs helped us get extra exercise too. We would rent this place again. We spent a lot of time outside on the deck enjoying the views and nice weather. Thanks so much for having us!

I loved this house, the yard, the fire pit, the pizza oven, the decks, the treehouse. Such a cool place. We had a lovely time. My dog was so happy. He's a city dog that got lots of exercise going up and down the stairs and exploring the yard! We'd love to go back!

Great house for a family reunion. There were 5 bedrooms, but only 2 bathrooms - we wish there was one more. But the house was very clean and the kitchen was great - best I've ever seen at a rental. Lots of outdoor space for the kids to run around. Great location too - less than 10 minute walk to miniature golf, a playground and downtown Guerneville. We'd definitely stay here again. via AirBnB

Racer Five was the perfect home for a group of 10, it fit us all comfortably. Great location and after a day of crabbing in Bodega Bay it had the perfect kitchen to have a crab boil with what we caught. This is my second Rental with Russian River Vacation Rentals and they are very friendly and communication is always quick.-Airbnb Guest-

Great Location ...short walk to beach and town! We had eight folks and each had their own bed...nice! Fire pit was wonderful and parking was simply convenient...practice backing up :) The only thing missing was The JAZZ Festival it self :D-Airbnb Guest-

Great spot with an even better location. We rented racer 5 to celebrate my fathers 70th birthday and had toddlers, young kids, 30 year olds and of course some people in their 70s and everyone had a great time. The kitchen was a really nice place to gather and was stocked with everything you need. My only warning is that there are a lot of steps, so if you have an issue with this, maybe try another location. Overall an awesome place!

We had a ladies weekend away with 9 women and this place was fantastic! Great location, close to downtown and Safeway when we forgot something and close to wineries. The kitchen is fantastic! We made several large meals for the group and it was nice having a large open room to gather. Only issues, which wasn't really an issue because we knew about it is the stairs... There are A LOT of them! After several trips unloading the cars.. you do get winded. Also, neighbor dogs went a little crazy at ~7am, but we were told that they can be loud sometimes. I would highly recommend this place for a group! I slept in on of the twin beds and it was super comfortable. Source: Airbnb

This was such a beautiful house and property! It was perfect for our two families with younger kids (total of 5 ages 4-10). The yard was fenced in and secure, the treehouse and tire swing were a hit, and the garden was lovely as well! We also spent a couple afternoons afternoons at the nearby beach along the Russian River, and we could BBQ and cook in the beautiful kitchen while the kids played downstairs! The only thing that I would let folks know is that it is a lot of stairs (living quarters are on the 3rd and 4th floors). This was fine for us, as it gave beautiful views and we don't mind stairs! This was a clean home with most everything you need. Yes, neighbor's dogs bark constantly, but not that big of a deal. The bigger deal was the number of stairs to climb over and over, seems to be a recurring these in Guerneville homes. The yard set up was great, but we didn't eat down there because we didn't want to carry everything needed up and down those stairs. So we mostly cooked in the bbq and pizza oven and then trekked the food back upstairs to the top where the kitchen and living area was. If you like to cook on wood, bring your own as they supplied mostly pine. Very close to town, wineries, and not too far from the coast. Overall this was a nice place, but maybe a dumb waiter at least to move dishes and such back and forth.Source: VRBO
