Description

Pocket Paradise is a custom-built home in the heart of West Sonoma County and has lots of room for everyone! Located on 3 forested and landscaped acres between the towns of Forestville and Guerneville in a neighborhood called Pocket Canyon, this is a retreat for the whole family. A pocket of sunshine surrounded by redwood-covered hills, you'll lounge around the pool and in the hot tub, BBQ on the back deck, explore and picnic by the pool, and love life outdoors in temperate Northern California!

With room for 8 guests to cook and hang out in the generous kitchen with stainless steel appliances and Viking oven and gas range, you can cook to your heart's delight or visit well-loved local restaurants with equal aplomb. Play pool in the loft, Scrabble in the living room, or check out the big screen TV when you've had your fill of the outdoors. Enjoying quality time with friends and family couldn't be easier!

Know Before You Book:
Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Pocket Paradise is 8 people. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking: There is parking for 3 vehicles in the carport and driveway. The garage is not available for parking. RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes: Master Bedroom: King bed; Second Bedroom: Queen bed; Third Bedroom: Queen bed. Full Futon Sofa bed in the loft recreation room.

Heat Source: Central Heat, Gas Fireplace.

A/C: Central Air Conditioning.

Bathrooms: Two full bathrooms in the main house plus a full (third) bathroom in the pool house.

Pool and Hot Tub: The pool is heated mid-May to mid-October and is available year-round (even when not heated). The hot tub is built into the pool and heated separately – year-round. It takes approx. an hour to heat and remains at temperature for 4 hours. Both are under a safety cover. Detailed instructions are provided.

Stairs and Paths: Pocket Paradise is a 2-story home, and the pool and pool house are on a lower terrace. Multiple sets of stairs and paths connect the indoor and outdoor spaces. We encourage guests to look at the photos and floor plans to see if this is the right fit for your group. There are 3 stairs from the parking area to the front door and 4 from the dog run area into the laundry room. There is a flight of stairs from the entry area to the loft. From the back deck, there is a short flight of steps to a gravel path to the pool area. Another set of shallow steps (approx. 8 stairs) leads from the front of the house to the pool area. Both doors into the pool house have 3 stairs. Paths and outdoor stairs follow natural contours and are not evenly spaced or level.

Dog Run: The dog run is a great spot for Fido to go to the bathroom, but it will not hold in a determined dog.

Satellite Wifi: While great for checking email and social media updates, the service is not suited to streaming or heavy uploading and downloading.

Roads to Pocket Paradise: The private road to the house is well-maintained but gravel and dirt and not on most online maps. Guests are provided with written directions and signage on the private road.

Russian River Beaches: Johnson's Beach, in Guerneville, is 4 miles, or less than a 10-minute drive. In Forestville, Steelhead Beach is 5.6 miles and Mother’s Beach is 6.6 miles.

Nearest Ocean Beach: Goat Rock, Jenner, CA. Approximately 17 miles, 30-minute drive.

Great property! So much space for kids to run around and explore. Great hot tub and pool. This property to perfect for dogs with the dog run minus the yard where dogs can escape through the fence. Very clean! -via Vrbo

A Fairy Tale Retreat

Staying at this property was like stepping into a fairy tale setting straight from the movies. The soothing sound of a nearby creek, redwood trees, full privacy from neighbors around made it a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The house struck a perfect balance between its enchanting setting and modern comforts. It was exceptionally clean, and the modern amenities provided a convenient and comfortable stay. A particular highlight was the pool table upstairs. Weak internet connection, but this was understandable given the remote location and actually helped us to disconnect and fully enjoy the natural beauty around us. The only drawback was related to the check-in process. We had requested an early check-in due to a dinner reservation 45 minutes away, but the property manager was unable to accommodate us, citing an ongoing inspection. However, when we arrived 1 hour earlier, waited in the car, there seemed to be no inspection happening, which was slightly disappointing. In summary, this property offers a magical escape amidst nature, with the comfort of modern living. Its cleanliness, serene setting, and unique charm provided an unforgettable experience. Overall, it was an excellent place to stay. We fully relaxed in the hot tub and pool. And we had a blast playing pool in the spacious upstairs. Yet, the kitchen could use a few more supplies and better pots and pans (non-stick pans were very scratched which is unhealthy), glass containers for food storage, and a roll of foil would be good. Outside, the planters hanging off of the balcony need some help with more succulents and beautification. Other than that, we had a lovely time and appreciated the place immensely. The beds were comfy and we liked how there were three queens, no twins. Overall, it was an excellent place to stay in a beautiful setting. Loved being there.-via Vrbo

This was a multi-generational family getaway which included my son, 2 grandchildren ages almost 11 and 5, and my 30-year-old nephew. We never left the property which was just what we needed for our busy lives. The home was extremely clean and adequately stocked with kitchen tools, cookware, dishes, and glassware however the kitchen knives are in need of an upgrade so would suggest you bring your own sharp ones from home. Deck, pool, and pool area were awesome so many hours were spent there. The yard was in need of watering so did not look like the photos in the listing. We loved the home and property so will definitely book another stay next summer. The property management team was very responsive to emails as we needed to make some last-minute changes so would highly recommend them and this property.-via Vrbo

spacious house fit 7 comfortably in 3 bedrooms and upstairs game room containing a futon of sorts. kitchen was large and well stocked, blender and coffee grinder are always a plus. pool was warm and well maintained, with spa at 104 degrees. gorgeous yard and quiet setting. lots of room for us to all hang out comfortably. guerneville is a 5 minute drive away, to restaurants and the river. would highly recommend and is on our list for a return trip!-via Airbnb

We enjoyed our stay! The house is nice, although some of the furniture could be updated. The backyard and pool/hot tub were amazing. Only issues were the dishwasher and oven doors were broken, and there was not a Bluetooth speaker available as advertised. Otherwise, it was clean, the hosts were responsive (sent someone out to fix the dishwasher the same day). It’s a little bit of a drive from Russian river (10-15 mins) which wasn’t an issue. The house was also very dog friendly which was appreciated!-via Airbnb

We'd stay there again! Next time we'd have a few more people tag along. It was a lot of space for just 2 people and a small dog. The property is so fun and the pools/spa was very very relaxing. Small note for those that work remote...the internet and cell reception is not ideal (that's stated in their description) so don't plan a trip if you have to take a few Zoom video calls, they won't work. But it was nice to unplug for a couple of days.-via Airbnb

The pool and hot tub were beautiful and clean. The outside area is the loveliest part of the house. The kitchen is well-stocked (despite not having hand towels or hand soap). The few things that needed attending to were addressed quickly and efficiently. The house was impeccably clean, and we had a good time overall. However, the house is advertised for 8, but does not fit 8. The dining table was a tight squeeze for 6 adults and 2 kids; the futon in the loft definitely does not fit 2 adults ( and the lack of window coverings and open structure makes it not a place for kids to sleep). Also, there was a small table to eat outside, but only for 4 people, which is unfortunate, as the weather in the morning and evenings was perfect to eat outside. There is a bigger table by the pool, but it is not a convenient location for full meals. Lastly, there was not enough space in the LR to sit us all at once. Lastly, although included in the description, the wifi was surprisingly terrible.-via Airbnb

It's always nice to hear from our guests what they enjoyed, and what could use improvement. We are sorry we didn't hear about any linen issues or others during your stay - we would have stopped by to make sure you had all the linens you needed. It's a great home and we want to make sure guests have everything they need. Unfortunately, faster Wi-Fi is not available at the home, but we have the best we can get for now in it's rural location. If faster service comes to the area, we're sure we'll opt in for it! We hope our guests enjoy unplugging a bit more. The homes max occupancy is for 8 people and the dining table can seat 8 people as well. We will let the owner know of your feedback, and we hope to have another chance to impress during a future stay :)

It's as advertised. Really lovely with great kitchen, patio, pool, grounds and area. The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Lovely having a pool table as well. What a great spot- Location beautiful, house and property also beautiful! We had a great weekend. "Pocket Paradise" deserves the highest rating. It is a beautiful property appointed generously with large kitchen (and Wolf range!), warm gas fireplace, pool, hot tub, and beautiful grounds. The upstairs room with its pool table was a hit with everybody. We believe the the owners have thought about everything and have everything thought through. When we arrived, we were disappointed to find the hot tub turned off and cold. But let me tell you that it took virtually no time to bring it up to full, delightful heat. The fastest heating tub we've experienced! We loved even the cedar shingles on the house. A great place.-via VRBO

My family and i rented this home for the weekend just to get away from the craziness in the city. It was amazing. The house and rooms are very spacious and clean. It has a private pool area surrounded by beautiful trees and plants. No city noise. Very relaxing. We didn't want to leave lol. The pictures look nice but believe me, this place is better in person. Pocket Paradise was a wonderful retreat for a small group of friends looking to escape the city for a few days, enjoy the warm weather, and spend some time relaxing. The house was immaculate, the photos don't really do the yard justice - it's beautiful and spacious. The pool and hot tub were clean, maintained at the perfect temperature (solar heating!), private, and offered both sun shade. The kitchen, grill, and deck were well-appointed. Really loved the place and we’d definitely come back. It was a perfect combination of forest and gorgeous landscaped grounds. Added bonus was the beautiful blue-tailed skilton skink we saw the first day on the rock wall. That said, we would have appreciated an outdoor dining table that was in a little better shape and dish towels. Also, not sure the ice machine in the freezer was completely working.-via Airbnb

A hidden gem in Russian River - wonderful, full amenities for a 4 person family with small dog. Great place for relaxing, hosting, cooking and generally getting away from the hussle and bussle of city life.

I'll start with the issues. The number one thing was that they need to use Fragrance free detergent for all bedding. The building smelled very strongly to me - it smelled like bleach to a point that was uncomfortable. They had a washer dryer so we wash the sheets ourselves with some vinegar and that helped remove some of the smell for the second night. Directions for how to find the place were missing the all important final step which was not obvious to us at all on the moonless night that we arrive. Are the houses behind another house on the right of the Long narrow road. All outlets at countertop didn't work. Clicking reset on the GFCI did not help.Kitchen missing some key simple items including: Oven mits and Dish towels.Remote for hot tub didn't work - The host showed up and changed the batteries. Idea: it would be nice to ask if guests want it hot when they arrive. Pillows low quality but bedding okOn the plus side: overall it was a big nice house that was very practical for our groupGreat couchPool setting was the most beautiful part of the houseDining booth was goodPots and pans were good as was cusinart

Pocket Paradise was the perfect home to celebrate my birthday. The home is beautiful. The gardens are spectacular. We loved the pool and hot tub. We intend to return soon. This property has so much to offer. The location is beautiful and peaceful. The pool, hot tub and pool table provided entertainment for all. We didn't need or want to leave the home during our stay. We were able to cook gourmet meals and enjoy are food with a view of the amazing gardens. I highly recommend this exceptional home.

This place was just perfect. Great house with a nice open kitchen/living/dining area, amazing pool and hot tub, and beautiful property with a fantastic, fenced-in yard for the dogs. Great location too with all the nearby wineries and Russian River amenities. We would absolutely rent this property again- can't wait!

I really didn't want to leave and felt so comfortable. From the beginning, the managing company was extremely responsive and very professional. The home is perfectly nestled among tall trees and despite being close to other homes, feels very private. The grounds are so well kept and the place was spotless when we arrived. In addition to sleeping, swimming, and lounging, there are lots of things to do, including stand up paddle-boarding, going for a hike, and eating at the delicious Italian restaurant. I can't wait to go back!

Our family had a truly wonderful stay! We used the pool and hot tub and pool table every day. We love the open layout of the home. Everything you need to enjoy your time is provided. The beds are super comfortable and everything was very clean. The location is beautiful. We would not hesitate to come here again! Thanks so much for a great family vacation!

Spent a week with the family at this amazing property. The house was perfect, but the backyard with the pool and the garden was just amazing! We spent quiet days reading by the pool, eating the plums that dropped off the trees, and the hot tub at night was so relaxing. It was such a great week with family playing pool and watching movies. Pocket Paradise was hard to leave. We are already discussing our return. Thanks RR Vacation Homes!

This property was beautiful and extremely comfortable! It was very well put together with everything you need/want in a vacation rental. The chefs kitchen was wonderful. I cooked every meal and never had a shortage of utensils, pots, pans or dishes. They have made it very welcoming and homey. The Pool table in the loft was definitely a bonus. The pool/spa and pool house were great as well. You can take lunch and/or snacks down into the pool house and enjoy table side, inside as well as outside. The outside ground are beautiful and peaceful. This house is also situated outside of a normal neighborhood. And although you have a few neighbors, they are all spread out making the house and grounds quiet and private.The directions for everything in this house were extremely easy and readily available. You didn't have to search around for answers.We will definitely be back during the summer with more people to enjoy this home's full potential.

I just finished my stay here and it was perfect. Not only was communication and checkin seamless and easy, but the property was stunning. The backyard and pool area is so well maintained and the gardening is beautiful. The house is truly as great as the listing makes it seem. I didn't want to leave at the end of the trip, 10/10 would stay here again! :)

Beautiful space, very clean, and truly a wonderful place to relax and enjoy one another's company. The WiFi is pretty weak (as the hosts make sure to point out, so we were prepared), but just an FYI! We otherwise had a really great time.

Wonderful house . Easy to get to from SF. Very clean . Beautiful grounds . Pool, hot tub and pool house were perfect. Love the deck and BBQ. And love that we could bring our dogs . We had a wonderful time at Pocket Paradise...the name couldn't be more fitting. The landscaping was beautiful and the pool could not have been more lovely. The house was comfortable and well appointed. The Kitchen was a delight to cook in. Location was great. Our family enjoyed a wonderful stay and would come back in a heartbeat.

This house is beautiful. Its got a lot of open space with a beautiful pool area. The house was immaculately clean. We all had a great time relaxing by the pool and enjoying a bit of time off from work. Our dog also had a great time with the available space to run around outside.-Airbnb Guest-

We loved this beautiful home. The garden is so pretty and the house is spacious. The pool was amazing. We spent most of our time swimming in it or playing pool in the loft. The only drawback was that we were unable to stream movies from the internet. If you are staying for a week, be sure to bring some toilet paper and some dish soap.Manager Response:Hello and thanks for the nice notes! The wifi at Pocket Paradise is through Dish Network, so it's great for checking email and social media updates, but not for streaming or other heavy use. The TVs have tons of stations through Dish Network though. An initial supply of toilet paper, paper towels and other items are provided (listed in the guest agreement and website), but if you have questions - please ask! We're happy to help you figure out what to pack or shop for once you get here - we do have a Safeway and other shops.~ Megan
