Description

La Rive Gauche is a charming family home nestled among the redwoods and overlooking the Russian River, but still near restaurants. This cozy and rustic home features warm rich colors, wood floors, woodstove and country charm. Two sliding glass doors from the living room open onto a sunny deck with river views. The deck features a 4-person hot tub, redwood furniture and a charcoal barbecue. A flight of stairs leads to a seasonal vegetable garden and fenced yard with outdoor furniture. From the yard, 40 steps lead down the riverbank to a seasonal deep-water dock and 3 kayaks (available mid-May through mid-September depending on river conditions). A great home for families in a quiet, residential neighborhood!

With 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, this home comfortably sleeps 8 guests. On the main floor, you'll find a full bath and 3 bedrooms (1 King and 2 sets of Twins). On the second floor is a master suite and full bath with lovely river views. The well-equipped kitchen has a large refrigerator, granite countertops, garbage disposal, electric oven, gas cooktop, work island, plenty of counter space and a laundry room with a front-loading washer and dryer. No dishwasher.

Centrally located in Monte Rio, La Rive Gauche is within walking distance of many local attractions, including the Monte Rio public beach, Rio Theater, Bartlett's grocery, restaurants, bars, and shops. Jenner by the Sea, Northwood Golf Course, Armstrong Woods, and many Russian River wineries are just a short drive away. Explore the river by kayak, go fishing in the river, feed the ducks from the dock, or watch for river otters, turtles, ospreys, and herons. The garden is for guests to enjoy, so feel free to pick some blackberries for breakfast, or vegetables for dinner.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at La Rive Gauche is 8. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking: There is off-street parking for 2 cars in a narrow driveway and carport. Two small cars (or one larger vehicle) can park directly in front of the house. Additional street parking is available on a first-come first-served basis around the corner from the house. RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes: Master bedroom: Queen bed; Second bedroom: King bed; Third bedroom: 2 Twin beds; Fourth Bedroom: 2 Twin beds.

Heat Source: Central heating, woodstove (no firewood or kindling provided).

Rec/Game Room: The game room is an unheated, uninsulated space. Temperature varies throughout the year.

A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the nighttime temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house.

Pet Policy: La Rive Gauche no longer allows dogs.

Game Room: The air hockey table is no longer at the house, but there is a ping-pong table!

Docks and beaches are seasonal only and available from mid-May to mid-September at La Rive Gauche. The home is located below the summer dams and is not impacted by their installation and removal. Kayaks at this home are available starting mid-May to mid-September only and will be on the dock for you. The river is usually too swift for boating in the winter and many docks and beaches are under water until late spring.

The home was perfect for us and we had a wonderful visit. It was amazing to have such great access to the river. We would definitely visit again. The only issue was the internet was a bit slow for uploading/downloading files so if you plan on working, it would be a good idea to bring your own hotspot. The house was very nice for 6 adults. It was very clean and had all the amenities. The private dock, kayaks and floaty toys were a huge plus. As was the very nice hot tub! We were on the river every day. The garden provide some yummy veggies for cooking. The only very slight improvement that could have been made is the sitting areas in the back of the house. Lots of overgrown weeds and thistles made it hard to use. But the outside deck had plenty of sitting area.-via Vrbo

For the past seven years, our family has been enjoying this home for our annual family reunion. We plan to continue this tradition every year for as many years as possible. Its right on the river, the rooms are designed to accommodate all our needs, its within walking distance to our favorite places to eat, such as Lightwave, Rio Cafe and others. If you love friendly community, cats and dogs, ducks and picturesque scenery this is the place to stay.

Great home in a great location. It’s basic, has everything you need for the weekend. One bathroom is really wonderful and you’ll shower under the redwoods! Our family, including 2 young kids and their grandparents, had a very comfortable stay. We loved the holiday décor (a decorated Christmas tree!), the hot tub overlooking the River, and the proximity to Monte Rio shops and Guerneville. Stayed here for my 50th birthday with some friends and we loved it! It was a last minute change as my previous reservation was canceled two days before the stay (host lost his short term rental license in the county) and was relieved to find something in the same area for the number of guests that were coming. The house is lovely, right on the river, with a garden in the back that my friends' daughter picked some tomatoes for our breakfast sandwiches. The shower in the downstairs bathroom is amazing with the large windows that look out into the redwood trees. The hot tub is on the deck overlooking the garden and the river. Bring your own wood for the wood fireplace in the living room. Convenience store with groceries was within walking distance, as well as, Lightwave Coffee (lovely café with outdoor seating next to a garden). I would very much stay here again.-via Airbnb

This is not my first stay at the River Homes properties, but so far is the best one. Great house with a lot of living space, perfect location (right on the river, close to the downtown, 20 min to the beach). Having one master suite on the second floor was perfect for my family (given some of us needed an early evening check-out time for R&R). We enjoyed spending time on the water, granted kayaks and floats were also provided. One tip for big families - bring paper/plastic goods (plates, forks, etc.), lack of dishwasher hurts a little :)-via Airbnb

We were very pleased with our stay. This home is fully equipped and spacious for a large family. We enjoyed the sweet garden, the kayaks and all of the amenities. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about this home. Fantastic location, easy check-in/check-out, amenities were superb and it was SO peaceful. We woke up to the sounds of the birds, the home had kayaks that we enjoyed on the river and the private dock was lovely. The house was well-stocked with everything we ever needed and there were resident cats that we adored and fed throughout our stay! We will definitely be back. The only thing I’ll note for the management company is that the keys to the Kayaks only would unlock one of the kayaks (the double) and the other lock wouldn’t open. Perhaps was user error. We loved this place! Things that stood out: • Epic deck with river view! Comfy beds & the oven gets hot enough to make pizza :) • They left us a surprise of wine, cookies, & homemade blackberry jam -- Super good! • Also, we loved the family photos and the history of the house. • The window in the downstairs bathroom shower showcases the redwoods so beautifully it's like you're showering outside. • Super close to everything -- beach, hiking, redwoods, coffee shops, river, wineries. Good house for about 8 people. We were 2 families with 4 kids and there was enough place for us to sleep and play. The living area is kinda small though so you need good weather to use the deck. We didn’t use the hot tub. The backyard was unusable for us since it’s not well maintained and in February there’s no access to the River from the house either. Finally there’s no dishwasher so we ended up spending quite a it of time washing and drying dishes everyday. Location of the house is great with the river beach within walking distance a few restaurants as well. Highly recommend the area of Monte Rio for a relaxing vacation.-via Airbnb

It was a great staying! Even though the river is almost still due to the drought, we enjoyed the water, the kayaking (in fact slow flow makes easier for kayaking for going downstream and upstream), and most of all, we loved to sitting at the patio with red wine and cool summer breeze. Great place to stay if you want to spend a weekend getaway by the Russian River. The home has all the amenities you could need and has outdoor supplies as well i.e. Kayaks, floaties etc. The kids went kayaking for the first time and loved it (Look for the rope swing about 200 yards towards the right of the dock on the opposite side of the river). What also made it extra special was the daily visits by the 2-3 neighborhood cats who loved the attention (and cat-food that is provided along with some care instructions). There aren't a lot of restaurants in the Monte Rio area but Lightwave Coffee had some really good coffee/pastries and KoalasFineFood (about 3 miles away in Guerneville) had some really delicious Burgers and Sushi. La Rive Gauche in Monte Rio was an amazing house for a boys trip. The four rooms offered lost of privacy and the updated bathroom felt like it was a shower in the Woods. The house is positioned on the water and has a dock for kayaks to be launched from. My buddies and I had an amazing day kayaking down the river. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the pots, pans, and utensils you need. Be sure to bring your own spices, condiments, and perishables for a dine in weekend.via AirBnB

Quiet Riverfront House To Recharge Your Batter

Only 90 minutes from San Francisco, yet could be hundreds of miles away in terms of the quiet, peaceful, forested riverfront setting. We especially enjoyed the large deck, with hot tub, overlooking the slow flowing Russian River, chilling out with a good book, an early morning coffee and an evening cocktail. La Rive Gauche was a convenient base for our day trips to the Sonoma Coast and the Wine Country. Roomy with all the conveniences, a great place for a couple of days or longer. Will definitely return!!

A Beautiful Getaway

Just returned from a 3 day end of summer Holiday with friends/family and had the best time! Plenty of space for our group. The kitchen was the most well stocked in a vacation rental I have ever experienced. The garden is amazing -made tomatillo salsa that was delish! Easy river access from the dock and the air hockey table kept us entertained for hours. Neighbors were great and even got a little jam session from the guys across the street who practicing for a show the following night - awesome music! There were 2 other cats besides Daisy who kept us company and filled the void for those of us missing our pets at home - super cool. Read about the home's history in the accommodation books and you truly can feel all the love this family has put into this house - thank you for sharing your beautiful home. Management company very accommodating and highly recommended. All in all we had an awesome time and hope to go back next year.

This was the best place that we have stayed and we have already booked for next summer. The cabin was well equipped and very comfortable. It was amazing how cool it stayed indoors when it was so hot outside. The twin beds meant that everyone had their own bed so there was no sharing. The kayaks were well used as was the spa. Daisy, the cat, was a real bonus. We hope to see him again next year!

The property is a living garden, both front and back! The cat that visited us daily was a nice addition to our 7 adults. The place was spacious and the furnishings comfortable and very accommodating. The binder was very helpful to navigate anywhere in the area. The hot tub was a center for evening retreating! The only negative was the showering. Only two quick hot showers at night and morning were tweaked out however I feel confident this will be addressed by the owner who generally loves this place. It's a keeper!
