Description

Hummingbird House is a beautiful, well-appointed home on a sunny property with views, privacy, numerous amenities, and a central Russian River Valley location. Sit out on one of the lovely decks with morning coffee, soaking up the sun, and enjoy the tranquility. Then, set off on a great day of exploring all that Sonoma County has to offer! When the day is done, come back, make dinner with the local ingredients you've collected, and then take an evening soak in the large hot tub.

Hummingbird House is a 3 story home nestled against a sloping hill and overlooking a grove of redwood trees. The top story, which is also the entry-level, has open living room, kitchen and dining areas. The kitchen is well-equipped, the dining table comfortably seats 6 people, and the living room has floor to ceiling windows, a large couch, a flat screen TV (you can log in to your Netflix, Pandora or Hulu Plus accounts) and a wood-burning stove. Sliding doors lead from the dining area out to the first of three decks, where the gas BBQ and outdoor dining table are located. Also on the top story there is a small office with a desk, perfect for finishing a bit of work or browsing the internet, and there is a bathroom with a free-standing tub.

The second story, accessed by stairs from the living area, has a bedroom with a queen bed, a half bath/laundry room, and the master bedroom, with a king bed, its own bathroom and sliding doors to the middle story deck. The master bedroom bathroom has a shower/bathtub combo. Stairs from the middle story hall lead to the lowest story, which is entirely made up of a bedroom suite with a queen bed, small sitting area and a bathroom with a shower. A door leads from the suite to the lowest deck, where the large hot tub and lounge chairs are located. The hot tub deck can also be accessed by a spiral staircase from the second level deck or from stairs leading up from the yard.

The meadow-like yard is large with a number of fruit trees. The upper portion of the sloping hillside is tastefully landscaped. There is plenty of space for kids to play and dogs to run (please note the yard is not fenced, so unleashed dogs need to be under voice control). Surrounding the open meadow area is a forest of redwood trees. The Russian River is just down the road, and river access is less than a mile away. Many Russian River Valley Wineries are less than 3 miles away.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Hummingbird House is 6. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking: On-site parking is permitted for a maximum of 3 vehicles. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes: Master bedroom: King bed; Second bedroom: Queen bed; Downstairs bedroom: Queen bed

Heat Source: Central heat, wood stove in the living room, gas fireplace in the downstairs suite.

A/C: Partial. The house has a mini-split air conditioner for the main level only. The middle and ground levels stay cooler naturally. Being near the coast, the night time temps drop and just opening some windows while the a/c is off is usually enough to cool the house.

Common Amenities not included: This home does not have a Dishwasher.

Location: Great wine country location! Hummingbird House offers a deal of privacy. Although there are other homes in the tucked-away neighborhood, there are no visible homes from the back decks or the back side of the house. There are no immediate neighbors. Despite the privacy, Hummingbird House is located on a very accessible, well-maintained road and is just a short drive to wineries, restaurants, and other attractions the area has to offer.

Work from HERE: Hummingbird House has a separate office with desk (with keyboard tray), record player, and a door to close out distractions.

The Hummingbird House far exceeded the expectations for my partner and me - it was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. It’s exceptional in terms of location, decor, layout - basically EVERYTHING. Location is extremely private (think tons of trees, birds and bumblebees), and very quiet. Expansive windows allow for lots of natural light throughout the day. Some deliberate touches we really liked were the vinyl record player, hummingbird references, and homey layout. Kitchen amenities were beyond exceptional - expect a fully-stocked kitchen when staying here (minus the food ingredients, of course). And the highlight of our stay, especially for my partner, was the jacuzzi, which quickly became mine as well. The only con (but definitely not a reason to dock any points): the final road to get there is a single-lane road which, at most points, is only wide enough for a single vehicle. In the end, my partner and I loved every second of our time at Hummingbird House. If we could be back every weekend we absolutely would. We really didn’t want to leave.-via Airbnb

We had a great stay. House is cozy. Bed linens were comfortable and it was a great sleep. Decks are lovely for morning views and coffee. We were bummed no time for fire making maybe next time. We had a great time finding adventures for our children and the best was the food truck outside of Safeway. If anyone is looking for food IT IS A MUST - via Airbnb

We loved our stay at Hummingbird House over Christmas 2023. Just as stated and as seen in photos. Easy check-in. Peaceful. Private. Clean. Nicely updated. Enjoyed the jacuzzi. Beds were comfortable. Had a great time staying at Hummingbird House. It was the perfect place for 3 couples visiting the Wine Country. House was clean, kitchen was pretty much fully stocked. Fruit trees on the property. 2 BRs with attached baths. I'm nit-picking when I say a couple of extra towels would be nice (we only got one towel per person), the beds are comfortable but very firm, and I know we're not there to watch TV, but the my computer monitor is about the same size. They could upgrade the TV to at least a 40" in case people want to watch a movie at night or something. Other than that, it was a great stay.-via Vrbo

Hummingbird House is tastefully decorated and fully kitted out. The recently remodeled bathrooms are well done. I especially enjoyed the claw footed tub. It is in a very secluded location at the top of a ridge. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings. And spent time, relaxing and watching the birds on the bottom deck. You are close to many wineries and fabulous restaurants. Jenner is about 30 minutes away. We just did a beautiful walk on the deserted Goat Rock Beach this morning. My husband used the sunny office on the upper floor to get some work done. And the Internet works great. The kids were both on their devices and my husband was working with no slow downs. I enjoyed the large selection of puzzles. We highly recommend this house and hope to return in the future.-via Airbnb

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Hummingbird house. It was a great house for us with each of the separate rooms and floor plan. We felt it was the perfect balance to hang out while also having some privacy when we wanted to step away. The living room is on the smaller side but it was cozy and intimate, great for smaller groups. Everything was clean and in good condition. My favorite part was the deck/outdoor space connected to each of the rooms. The yard was an absolute dream come true for my furry child. The hot tub was very spacious and heated up quick (but could use less chlorine). I appreciated having many towels and blankets provided. The only addition that would have made it perfect would be to have a dishwasher. Overall, we LOVED our stay and made good memories here. Thank you! :)-via Airbnb

This property was gorgeous, amenities were great, each deck had something to offer. The location is amazing, tons to do in any direction. The grill worked like a charm, we absolutely loved it. The only thing, which still wasn’t a big deal, is that the hot tub doesn’t seem to get very hot even when you put it to 104 it’s much cooler than the claw foot tub which was my favorite detail of the whole place! I would absolutely go back to the hummingbird house if I could afford it in the future!-via Airbnb

While it rained almost the whole time we stayed, The Hummingbird house did not disappoint. The entire home was very comfortable. The kitchen was stocked well. They have a wood-burning stove that heats up the first floor quickly and the host provides a few logs for the first night. There are stores close by where you can easily pick up more firewood. We did manage to get Pizza delivered from the Sonoma Pizza Co. The Pizzas were delicious. I would love to go back in the summertime to enjoy the huge yard.-via Airbnb

This was a great place for our multi-generational family. The kids loved having their own floor, and the upper floor was great for everyone to gather. We loved the neighborhood, and explored the nearby streets on foot with the dog. The house is very peaceful, and in a beautiful setting. Convenient and close to everything we wanted to do. Nice little cabin retreat, plenty of space for 6 people. Place was clean and check-in was super easy. Very nice grounds and hot tub was the highlight of our stay. One thing to note is that the third bedroom does not have an attached bathroom, and the closest is a half bath across the hall. The 3rd full bathroom is on a separate floor, and has a bathtub but no shower. With 6 people (3 couples), this introduced some logistical complications, but nothing too major. We just returned from a long weekend at Hummingbird House and we are looking to see when we can return. We loved the seclusion and large outdoor spaces to relax on the various decks and lawn, and enjoyed the various fruit trees. We woke up each morning to deer and a fawn also enjoying the garden. The place was spotless, and each bedroom was large with bathroom access. They new bathrooms are beautifully done. We guessed one of the owners is an artist who’s paintings hang throughout the house and add to it’s colorful and tasteful décor. The office space was fantastic for us both to WFH for a couple of days and we enjoyed adding our pins to the world map of visitors. Thank you for sharing your lovely house. We had a great time at the Hummingbird house. Beautiful house and grounds, super quite and surrounded by nature. The house is super clean and incredibly spacious. There are several outdoor spaces to enjoy. Two en-suite master bedrooms incredibly spacious. Third bedroom is a good space and a dedicated bathroom. All bedrooms are very private. Kitchen is super well equipped and clean. Everything is in working order - stove, oven, bbq (new Weber), hot tub, TV. Lots of board games. The house is just few minutes drive from closest coffee shop, market and Russian River water activities. Only 15 minute drive from Sonoma vineyards. Perfect for a family /group get away. My family (6 adults) had a great long weekend at this property. The house is big, comfortable and well equipped to cook and spend chill days. Location is perfect, 5 mins to the River and so many other little towns and restaurants to explore within driving distance. The only downside (when sharing with other couples) is that one room is smaller and doesn’t have its own shower. There is a tub in the upstairs bathroom but in order to use a shower, that couple would have to use one of the on suite baths in the other two rooms. The outdoor space is perfect to relax and has many sitting options - not to mention the deer visiting the property every day. What a treat! We had issues with the jacuzzi the first night, it wasn’t hot when we arrived and it takes up to 4 hours to warm up so we didn’t get the chance to use it the first night as planned. I wish we had this info so we would have turned it on as soon as we checked in. I would definitely return to keep exploring the area and have a relaxing time!-via Airbnb

Excellent place! Very secluded with wide open views and gives the sense if being in the Forrest. Someone wrote about the stairs being a problem. They are not a problem and not even noticeable. In fact, the levels it provided quietness and privacy for those who wanted to goto bed early. The 3 bedrooms, plus study plus two bathrooms with showers, one a third with a tub and a 1/2 bath on second level was very convenient. Communication with host was excellent. We had such a lovely time at Hummingbird house. It was just the right size for the six of us, and the set up allowed each couple their privacy. It was well appointed but also unfussy and comfortable. The setting was beautiful and quiet, and in every direction there were interesting options for outings, from wineries, to small towns, to redwood forests, to the gorgeous beaches at Sonoma State Park. The hot tub was appreciated, particularly after a day biking to vineyards. My husband is a great cook, and this was the only rental we've ever stayed in that had a decent set of knives. If you cook, you'll know how important this is! Entry was easy, info booklet was very thorough. It was so wonderful to travel again, and to have it be so seamless. Thanks so much!

We really enjoyed our time here at Hummingbird House. It is very spacious with 3 separate living areas. The host provides towels, clean bedding, and citronella candles. The couch was comfy enough and the kitchen was good. There is a washer and dryer if needed. The deck space on all levels was amazing! However, there are a LOT of stairs so it was tough if you forgot something on the bottom floor once you were up in the main area. However, we enjoyed the workout and the stairs are nicely sloped and have hand railing for older guests. Since the house has no AC, we needed personal fans on the top floor. However, the middle and lower levels were VERY cool and comfortable all day and night. The master has a ceiling fan as well. Both master and lower-level bedrooms and bathrooms are beautiful and spacious. We had a dog with us and kept him on a long leash whenever outside. There is nothing blocking the street access and we had a family of deer in the morning and the evening that seems to live in the surrounding woods. It was really sweet to see but didn't want our dog to get too close. The drive up is on a one-lane road. That was a bit nerve-racking. However, we seemed to get lucky and didn't encounter any big vehicles on the way up. It's the price you pay to be up in the beautiful private wooded area. Overall, we loved the property, had a wonderful vacation and would return again.

The Hummingbird House was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway. The house itself had everything we needed including a cozy woodturning fireplace, 3 comfortable and spacious bedrooms, and an amazing outdoor setting. The yard is beautiful and includes a number of peaceful spots to hang out in. The multi-level deck and jacuzzi were perfect for relaxing as a family and really feeling away from everything - although it is located in a neighborhood, the property is big enough that we couldn't see another house and really had the sense we were entirely on our own. The location also offers a convenient home base for exploring the area (though, in our case, the pandemic meant that we spent more time at the home relaxing than really exploring all the area has to offer). We'd love to visit again!

This was a great place for our group of 2 couples and 2 kids. The master closet is a perfect place for baby sleep! (If you're travelling with a crawler, I recommend bringing a gate for the top of the stairs.) The kitchen is well equipped and there are some games, puzzles, and markers for kiddos. The downstairs heater stopped working while we were there, but I was really impressed with the host's response. They sent someone quickly to get it going.

The house was perfect for our family of six-- our grown up sons and our son's family had all the privacy they wanted. We watched TV in the living room and did not have to worry about a toddler sleeping one floor below-- the house is so spacious, one does not need to worry about noise! Our dog loved playing outside. A family of deer visited the backyard almost every day. We had a magical time -- we won't look for another house next time we are coming to Sonoma County.

The place was a great stay. Very Big and spacious; perfect for large groups. The hot tub was wonderful and the place was very clean. We really enjoyed our stay. The AC was not very effective during the day, but we opened the windows and then went for a jump in the river. I didn't enjoy having to wash dishes and clean, even though I was charged a cleaning fee. I get that it's not a hotel, but if you gonna charge a cleaning fee then they should clean. Otherwise i'll clean, but don't charge a fee.

We loved Hummingbird House from the moment we entered. The forest setting is magnificent and we were able to take advantage of the outdoor decks thanks to beautiful weather. We could not see another home and were able to enjoy nature in privacy. Everything was as shown and described on the website and the space was perfect for two couples and more guests would have been possible. This home is a true gem and we hope to return one day.

Hummingbird House was lovely, serene, and picturesque. From the quiet setting, to the deer feeding from the tree in the backyard, to the bottle of wine waiting for us on the dining room table, our stay was relaxing and pleasant. The house is up a winding, hilly, one-lane road, so it can be tough to navigate getting there if you're not prepared, but it was the perfect location for us, as it is less than 30 minutes from Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, and many, many wineries and wine tastings! We had 3 couples staying at the house. There are only 2 baths with showers. A bit awkward but we managed. Small kitchen but we were able to do a lot of grilling on the deck. Lots of the right utensils in the kitchen. The upper level is away from the bedrooms so you could be there without bothering those going to bed early or sleeping in late. Very quiet area and just far enough away from other homes that we didn't hear any neighbors. This home was in a great location for our tour of Sonoma Wine Country. Came with another couple; it was nice that the bedrooms were on different floors for privacy. Made some wonderful meals in the evening so we could enjoy some of the wines we purchased. Kitchen had all the amenities we needed and grill worked great! Loved the scenic views from the picture windows and enjoyed watching the deer eat the apples off the trees! House was very comfortable but would benefit from some up-dates.

We so enjoyed our week at the Hummingbird House. It's spacious, clean, beautifully decorated, well equipped and relaxing. The garden and the decks were wonderful. The top floor gets quite hot in the afternoon, but the fans helped. There are 3 full bathrooms, but one has a tub and not a shower. As a result, 4 people shared one shower and 2 people shared the other. The people in the rental office were friendly and helpful when we had a question. A wonderful stay at the Hummingbird House. The location was ideal for all of the areas we explored in Sonoma County. Ample space for our group and a great place to end each day. Beautiful grounds and gardens, loved all the decks and outdoor space and the unique interior. The property was great, very clean and reasonably well equipped. The hot tub and outside spaces were excellent and used daily. Only negative at the property is the couch in the main living room: not very comfortable and would be nice to have a better seating space while winding down before bed watching the news, etc. Also we could not find any grilling utensils. We would stay here again, while it was just the two of us this time, I think it would be great for 3 couples.

This house has a peaceful and quiet setting that's very private. Even the drive up to the house was nice. We saw deer daily, and loved the many decks. The three bedrooms and three baths was ideal especially since we were three couples. We spent most days exploring and then would come back to grill and play cards. I would stay here again!

Absolutely loved our stay at Hummingbird House! Enjoyed a trip with several friends to do some wine tasting and it fit our needs perfectly. It was close enough to amenities, but still felt like you were hidden in a forest far from the crowds. The layout of the house provided all our guests to maintain some privacy (with rooms and bathrooms on separate floors) while the living space allowed everyone to gather together in an open, airy setting. All the furniture was in good condition and very comfortable. And the wood-burning stove added a warm bit of character. The grounds were beautiful and we even saw some deer wander through the yard in the morning. I would also definitely recommend this rental company based on their customer service alone. We appreciated the nice touch of a welcome bottle of wine upon our arrival, which we promptly put to good use! This was our first time using Russian River Vacation Homes and they were excellent in communicating and providing information throughout the entire process. We had an issue with the hot tub our first night and after speaking with Jordan, she took care of it within 24 hours (on a Holiday Weekend) However, I would recommend replacing the coffee maker as it did not operate efficiently and was very disappointing for the coffee drinkers in our group. Check-in/Check-out was a breeze. I wouldn't hesitate to book through this company again - and in fact, I am considering doing so for a future family getaway.
