Hearthside Cabin is a lovely and unique Northern California vacation rental getaway. No matter how long you stay, you won't want to leave! Nestled among towering redwoods and adjacent to beautiful Austin Creek in historic Cazadero, you'll feel like you've come home when you walk into our peaceful oasis in the forest.

This home offers a spacious living room featuring a rustic wood-burning stove for snug evenings by the fire. Just off the living room and kitchen is a large open deck overlooking the creek with outdoor dining, a gas grill, steps to the hot tub and creek access. A seasonal hammock, ample outdoor seating, and the scents of redwoods and fresh running water add up to a serene escape. With free wifi, you can also work remotely. Plus, a bottle of complimentary wine awaits your arrival!

Hearthside Cabin is located in Cazadero, Sonoma County, where surrounding communities offer all kinds of activities for the entire family. Beaches, golfing, hiking, swimming and, of course, award-winning wineries in the Russian River Valley, are all minutes away.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy: The maximum occupancy at Hearthside Cabin is 6. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking: On-site parking easily accommodates 3 vehicles. RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes: First bedroom: Queen bed; Second bedroom: Twin over Queen bunk bed; Living room: Queen futon.

Bathrooms: One full bathroom and one half bathroom.

Heat Source: Electric wall heaters, wood burning fireplace.

A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the nighttime temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house.

Creek Access: A newly built retaining wall and reinforced creekbank provide a path to the creek. There are stairs from the hot tub area to the path. In the winter the path may be under water.

This was an excellent spot to spend a rainy weekend! The house was easy to find, in great condition, and had everything we needed. The hot tub might've been my favorite I've ever used! We really enjoyed our 2-night cabin stay in Cazadero. The place itself was spotless, easy to access, and peacefully located right on a creek. There's a hot tub and a lovely large deck area -- unfortunately, we didn't get to make use of either because it was raining during our stay, but on a nice day I could see this being the perfect place to relax. The hosts did a great job of sending lots of update messages to make sure that we knew everything we needed for check-in/out. The only call-outs for guests to be aware: the town of Cazadero is remote. Expect to drive 10-15 mins to the nearest towns for essentials or restaurants. Not a big deal IMO (and actually great, if want you want to be a little more "out there" in the woods), but something to be aware of. Download the map and directions for sure in advance. Also, the house is stocked great on cooking equipment, but for storage essentials (e.g. Ziploc, saran wrap, or aluminum foil), we couldn't find any, so plan to bring your own. -via Airbnb

This home is absolutely beautiful. The kitchen had everything we needed. There were plenty of blankets and heaters to keep us warm. we went in Mid-November. the skylight in the living room is so beautiful to look at all the redwoods above. the neighbors are very nice. my only thing is the lack of lighting outside. if you have doggos, taking them potty after dark is kinda spooky. bring a flashlight. there is no gate before the walk down of the creek (the stairs are so easy to use and very stable)... but we couldn't let our dogs off because they would want to jump into the water every time.-via Airbnb

the perfect middle ground

My husband and I took our three kids for a short getaway from the Valley heat. The location was perfect, it was an hour from Santa Rosa, and less than an hour from Bodega Bay. We found it to be the perfect middle ground! The house was located near a creek, with access, and it was a wonderful experience. I only wish we would have spent more time enjoying the creek. The hot tub was the biggest hit with the kiddos, they enjoyed it every night. My only complaint, the bed in the primary bedroom was a little uncomfortable for my husband and I. Other than that it was enjoyed by all and would love to return in the future.-via Airbnb

Our small family of 5 had a terrific time at Hearthside Cabin. We had three young children (4, 7, and 10) who thoroughly enjoyed the creek. There was something for everyone. The location was easy to find, close to Russian River, and just enough privacy. The cabin had everything we needed and more. Communication with management was easy and fast. We would definitely consider coming back, thanks for a great family experience!

The area was perfect for us to “disconnect” for a while. Very peaceful and comfortable. We arrived in the middle of the night, so we weren’t able to go to the grocery store beforehand. No fault of River Homes, but would suggest bringing groceries for a few meals prior to checking in. Also we had zero cell service (AT&T), but there was a landline available. The Wi-Fi worked great. Took a nice scenic drive to Bodega Bay on one day and did the Korbel tour the next day as the cabin is located in the redwood forest between the coast and the vineyards. Great location with everything you need for a holiday or getaway. House was equipped with all the necessities for a full Thanksgiving dinner just brought the groceries. Easy access from the City but when we arrived we felt like we were in another world. Quiet evenings in the gorgeous redwoods and a spa to relax in! I would highly recommend and would definitely return for a visit. Great decks and views, full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, washer and drier and very roomy. Best part of this house is the skylights in the living room that allow you to look up through the Redwoods to the sky/stars. Sweet little home w all amenities needed. (I did miss a tea kettle, however :) Quick drive to Guerneville for food and visit and to the gorgeous CA coastline. Would love to visit in early summer when the river is rushing but warm enough to be outside. If visiting in the winter, bring thick/warm socks. Experience was amazing! The owners thought of everything! We had forgotten baby supplies like baby spoons and they had them! So beautiful, serene, peaceful! My husband is super tall 6’4” so the queen bed was a little small. There were extra trash bags and dish soap, things one of the previous places didn’t have. This is a lovely, cosy home by the creek. Interior is just as it appears in the photos, immaculately clean when we arrived. Beds are comfortable, kitchen is very well set up for cooking. My kids appreciated the creek access and relaxing setting surrounded by redwoods. It's a very quiet spot. The well-paved road in front of the house doesn't see much traffic, but will have cars rolling past at 35 mph so there can be a small amount of nose from that.-via Airbnb

Perfect place to relax among big beautiful trees and the river. Great place to bring your family, comfy and roomy enough for a family of 4-5 and a pup. We loved the location and especially loved that there was a gate that you could close off the road from the home. It made us feel extra safe knowing our dog and our kids could run around freely without worrying about the cars on the road. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need for family meals, including spices. We highly recommend this place and we would definitely go back.-via Airbnb

Very cute home with beautiful outdoor space. Upgraded kitchen, onsite washer and dryer. The real show stopper of this home was the back deck along with it's hot tub, hammock and access to the river.-via Airbnb

Hearthside Cabin was a perfect spot for us to celebrate our friend’s birthday weekend. We enjoyed our time away from the city, explored and walked along the creek with our dog, barbecued some amazing oysters from Tomales Bay that we got on our way up from SF, my partner made a beautiful paella, and we enjoyed the hot tub at night with the tall redwood trees surrounding us. And of course, enjoyed lots of wine! The house was super clean, comfortable, easily accessible and had decent cookware compared to other Airbnb’s we’ve stayed at. Hearthside Cabin

We had the best time at Hearthside Cabin. It was welcoming and clean. The trees are beautiful and cabin was the best vacation rental we've stayed at. I would like to come back when the creek has more water and easier access to the creek. I would definitely recommend Hearthside Cabin to friends and family.

This cabin hits on a lot of the highlights for the Russian River. I think the other reviewers have nicely summarized things about the cabin. I will just add some additional insights: For dog owners:--The property is full fenced in a way that your dog cannot access other house properties or the highway. The '4th' fenceline so to speak is the river. I was a little nervous at first that my dog could come on the riverside and get into someone else's yard, but the adjacent houses seem to have fences along their riverside to prevent that. There is at least one dog that lives next door.--For a dog-friendly property the house was impeccably clean! It's really nice to see that other dog owners treat the house so well.For people with kids:--Our daughter is 3 and she loved plopping pebbles in the creek, it didn't really cross her mind that there isn't an easy way to wade in the water due to the 3-foot drop (at least in the wintertime it's this way). There doesn't seem to be an easy place to walk to and gain public access to the river around this house -- this different from the opposite side of Austin Creek where people have properties that gently slope to the river.--The deck is in very good shape and it's obvious the owners keep up on changing out old boards (so nice!). I would have loved if the two stairways from the back deck had gates because we would have spend more time on the deck with our daughter. Because the property front/back yards communicate with each other, and the 4th 'fenceline' is the river, I couldn't really be outside and relax with my toddler .. because she really wanted to run around and go up and down to the river. But with older kids who need less supervision, or with babies, this wouldn't be an issue.--There are little kid and big kid games in the laundry room!--There is a CD/DVD player combo and quite a few non-kid movies--There are extra non-bathroom towels which is really niceOther general notes:--If you are looking to get away from everything and bring your own food to cook, you can really park here and never want to leave during your stay. If you are looking to take advantage of Monte Rio and Guerneville and the public beach accesses, those are 10-20 minute drives away. Not a big deal, but just to be aware that there aren't really walking-distance activities from this spot. This is also why people live in Cazadero though, to get away!--Heating tip: We found that the wall heater in the bunk bed room didn't work reliably (I think this is a known issue and there is a portable heater in there). We also found that the wall heaters in the main bedroom and in the bathroom worked almost too well. So at night, we left the heater on at the front of the house, and left the ones in the bathroom and bedrooms off (it was a high of about 65-70 and sunny the days we were there, so a bit chilly at night but not crazy outside). This worked well for us, and we didn't overheat at night. For the property owner:--Things that would take the cabin to the next level: It would be nice to have a sink-side drying rack for dishes, and dryer sheets for the laundry.--Thank you for the welcome wine!

The Heartside cabin was just the retreat our family needed. The well kept property is nestled in redwoods on the creek, a gorgeous setting. The home was clean, updated and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. The hot tub was wonderful. The home is located near the beach and wineries. We were able to immediately relax upon arrival.

Great location, by the river and surrounded by trees. Beds were comfortable and there were a lot of extra towels on hand. Kitchen had a good supply of pots/pans/utensils. Only hitch was the door code was not provided in my reservation details in the app I downloaded. Luckily I arrived at a decent time and someone was still in the office and able to give me the entrance code.

Hearthside is so lovely and it was excellent for our little family of 3. It was one of the better stocked kitchens that I've seen for a rental, plus very comfy beds and very clean!It's a quick drive to Monte Rio beach, Duncan Mills, Wild Flour bread, or Goat Rock beach. But it's also nice enough to stay in and not go anywhere at all!We were disappointed that the hammock was put away for winter, but it's understandable.I would say that the photos of creek access are a little misleading - the creek is right there but it's about a 3 foot drop to the water from rocks in wiring (maybe this is a work in progress?) It was hard not to be envious of other properties where one could just walk down to the water, which is what we were expecting. Overall, we'd be more than happy to stay again!

What a lovely renovated cabin, surrounded by majestic trees; you can hear the birds, and see the stars at night. Fresh air. The hot tub is a plus. A great cabin for a restful weekend getaway.

Hearthside was a perfect, relaxing getaway for me and my girlfriend. The living space is cute and comfortable, the kitchen is well-equipped, spacious and pretty modern, the jacuzzi is secluded and about 20 ft away from the water, surrounded by redwoods. I would highly recommend this retreat!

Hearthside is a perfect cabin for small families. The place has been updated and is extremely cozy. The hot tub was clean and really nice to jump into at night. Our lab loved being close to the Austin creek and we all had fun playing in the small pools, creek walking and checking out the different rocks. We had BBQs and read in the hammock - very relaxing place to get away from SV online life! We were greeted with a good bottle of Cab and did not have any issues with the place. My only suggestion is to fortify the path to the creek -- it is a little bit difficult for very young or very old people to get down to. I assume the storms of the year caused some more erosion so the path is steep and narrow. Other than that, the place is great and we will be back!

Lovely Location

I loved the location. Away from hustle and bustle and surrounded by the Redwoods. You may have to drive a bit to get to wineries but we would not have experienced the beautiful landscaping and surroundings had we not done so much driving. I would do it all over again!

Our stay at the cabin was perfect! The space was just as described. We had a wonderful Christmas here! The open concept allowed us to cook, play, board games, and just spend time together! Just what we needed! The rooms were nice and comfy and the futon couch was nice too! The river was absolutely beautiful and the hot tub amongst the redwoods so relaxing! We had such a nice time over the New Year holiday. The home was very clean, comfortable, warm, and literally had everything we needed. The hot tub was an extra nice benefit to the very cold days. The beauty of Austin Creek could not be any better either! Would definitely love to stay here again.

Hidden gem in Cazadero

Hard to leave a review that doesn't simply reiterate what so many before us have said so well. The appointments in this cabin are very nice. Great kitchen, comfy beds, everything very clean and well maintained. The hot tub is hot, the creek is cool, the trees are majestic and the whole package is hard to beat. What's not to love about barbecuing on an awesome deck under a canopy of ancient cedars and redwoods with the creek babbling in the background? And Cazadero is just close enough to Monte Rio and Guerneville to acquire necessities from civilization as the need arises - but not too close. This place was great, right on the little river as pictured. Well equipped kitchen, super easy to access and easy to find. We had a 13 month old and it was fairly easy to keep him out of trouble by moving just a few things around - not too many low to the ground tchotchkes or unstable furniture or anything like that. Just wish we had been there on a warmer weekend so we could have splashed in the water!-Airbnb Guest-

Had a lovely week splashing in the creek and relaxing under the Redwoods. Adventured our to Wild flour bakery for provisions and to Armstrong woods for a hike. Our kids declared it the best week ever!
