Falling Leaf features 2 bedrooms and one bath as well as a separate custom-built Japanese teahouse. The remodeled main house offers a charming country kitchen, modern bathroom, gas fireplace, flat screen TV and other modern amenities.

If you desire a more serene and rustic experience, the Japanese Teahouse is a secluded sanctuary. Separate from the main house, this custom built wooden teahouse features a gas fireplace, slate floors, views in all directions, and easy access to the main home. This structure is designed for relaxing and watching the trees, falling leaves and shooting stars from the plush, King bed.

From the deck that overlooks the seasonal creek, you can be soothed by the sights and sounds of nature. For a more private experience, wander to the patio area that backs up to a hill. This area is beautifully landscaped, featuring a wood-burning outdoor fireplace and private hot tub under the stars. Wherever you look, you can watch the falling leaves float to the ground while listening to the relaxing sounds of outdoor garden fountains. Whether you choose to walk to the beach, go wine tasting, play a round of golf at Northwood Golf Course, take a trip to the Sonoma Coast or go for a walk in the Armstrong Wood's redwood forest, it's all within a 15 minute drive.

This is the ideal spot to unwind, a perfect location for a romantic getaway, relaxing family vacation or just as an opportunity to hang out with friends. Whatever you choose, Falling Leaf is a memorable vacation experience.

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Falling Leaf is 6. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

A Note About Our Cleaning Fees:
Thank you for supporting our local business! When you stay with us, you are supporting local families at work. We think everyone deserves a decent living wage, and we make sure to set the rates and fees so that our cleaners and employees earn a living wage in beautiful Sonoma County. The cleaning fee goes directly to the cleaners and inspectors for their hard work in making sure our guests have a wonderful and welcoming space to call home for their stay.

Parking: On-site parking is permitted for a maximum of 3 vehicles; there is room to park 2 cars in front of the house; limited street parking is available on a first-come first served basis. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Stairs: There are several stairs from the parking area up to the home. There are a few stairs to enter the main home. There are a few steps into the tea house. Once inside, the main home and tea house are all on one level.

very quiet and private

This was a lovely place to stay. It was very quiet and private, as well as very clean. The spaces outside the main home are the real stars here -- the deck, the teahouse, the hot tub. It's hard to beat soaking in a hot tub with redwoods overhead! That said, the main house is also nice (in fact, we thought it looked cuter in person than in the photos), especially the spacious bathroom. Like other reviewers have said, the stairs leading up to the house are something to consider. They were no problem for us, but they could be challenging for someone with an injury or limited mobility. Just something to be aware of before booking! All in all, a nice stay and somewhere we would consider returning to. -via Airbnb

Great location and a beautiful home. This was the perfect place for us to unwind. It was a very sleepy visit but that’s exactly what we were going for. It stayed cool and shadowed deep in the ravine but the foggy mornings and misty surroundings outside were the best environment to get away from it all. We really enjoyed our stay at Fallen Leaf! We really enjoyed having the room to spread out and relax in such a beautiful setting. The cabin instruction binder and local sites/restaurants were helpful, though the print was a bit small for some of us. :-) Anyhow, we had a nice time hiking in the Armstrong Redwoods and paddleboarding down the Russian River. One suggestion I might make is to install a slider screen on the kitchen slider door so that while using the propane gas stove there can be air circulation/venting. Thanks!-via Vrbo

Beautiful nest in the redwoods, cozy yet expansive-feeling with decks, patios, hot tub, lots of windows/sliding doors to keep the trees in view. Good kitchen and bath, lovely Japanese tea house is a gorgeous 3rd bedroom just a little separate from house. On a nice woodsy street and very quiet. 5-min. drive to town. Falling Leaf was the perfect place for an extended Labor Day holiday for us along with our elder-pups. Relaxation was the number one priority and this property delivered. This place made for a wonderful location for a weekend getaway with friends. The house was in a beautiful, peaceful setting in the woods and felt very private. The place matched the description well. We particularly loved the outdoor spaces - lounging in the hammock, on the various patios, or in the hot tub. The property is fenced all the way around which was perfect for our dog - she could be outside off leash without us having to constantly watch her. We didn't end up staying at this place (creekside lodge) as there were issues with the hot water, but the hosts were great in getting another place! Super helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Pictures are a good representation of the place and it was clean. The house was a little breezy. I would definitely recommend and any of their other properties!

We loved our stay but the Tea House electricity went out a couple of times and it was so cold/raining we could not enjoy it. We rented the house with excitement for the tea house. Only complaint.

We were able to get the breaker reset during your stay, but we understand it happened again in the evening and we didn’t hear until the next day. We’ve had an electrician over to check, and we found out that we can’t have the electric fireplace and a space heater plugged in at the same time in the teahouse– or else the breaker trips. We’re looking into adding an extra electric box for the teahouse and reviewing estimates. We’ve created new signage and guest instructions to use one or the other. We’re so sorry we didn’t know before your stay to advise, but we’re so glad we were able to make up for it a bit. And, we hope you can stay with us another time to fully enjoy the teahouse and relax in the woods!

Our family really enjoyed our time at the Falling Leaf house. It is quiet, private, in a nice neighborhood, and comfortable. There are stairs up to the property that are challenging, but all right as long as you can comfortably climb stairs. The house is well equipped, WiFi worked well, and it offers a great retreat, especially as you enjoy the beauty of being among the trees. We had our dog with us who really enjoyed exploring outside. All in all the stay was lovely. The exterior is private and the trees are spectacular. The beds are squeaky and need an upgrade. The kitchen was lacking any tinfoil or cling wrap for storing leftovers. Definitely more geared toward grilling for cooking. You will want to bring bug spray but that is the nature of Guernville and not the places fault. The management company was very responsive and check in was a breeze. The stairs are a bit tricky so not great for mobility issues. All and all though a very peaceful stay.-via Airbnb

We really loved this home. The space was perfect for our party of 5 and the dogs loved having a yard. The interior of the house was comfortable, but the exterior is what sold us. There was a really lovely patio in the back yard with a. well-maintained and functioning grill. The front yard had another deck and a hammock that got a lot of use. The location was quiet and woodsy. It was about a 30 minute walk to downtown Guerneville and a quick drive to most places along the river. I had inquired about a getting a heater to work and the property was very prompt to respond, even on a holiday weekend. I would definitely stay again.-via Airbnb

Great little rustic cabin! It was just two of us with our pup and was good for us. It would be good for a family or close friends as just one bathroom. There is a cute “tea house” with a large bed separate from the house. The hot tub was A+ and the gas fireplace is key to keeping warm. The skylights let great light in. This was a really great and beautiful place to stay. It rained and poured, but I still feel like we enjoyed it to the fullest. We even used the hot tub while it rained! A few instructions and things in the house could use some improvement (i.e. main cabin's fireplace and lighting issues) but otherwise, things were pretty clear and easy in the instructions.Great for a small family or friends get-together. Communicating with the office was easy and they were very friendly. The floorboard heaters and fireplace weren't working the first night but they had someone come out as soon as possible the following day. Thankfully there were plug-in space heaters in the main cabin, and extra blankets.Sky-light windows and just the overall space and set up was great.

Great place for a summer getaway with my family. We booked a 5 day getaway to be near the river and the ocean and this place was perfect. We felt truly isolated and at peace and were able to relax and decompress within an hour of arriving. The hot tub was a perfect retreat each evening. Everything was in working order, and the only issue i had was that the bed in the tea house was a little uncomfortable, showing signs of wear. We still had a great nights sleep and the proximity to river and ocean activities was perfect. We would absolutely come back here and recommend it to others.

We could not have asked for a more wonderful spot. The house was exactly as shown - well equipped, clean, stocked with the basics. We spent most of our time outside - spent time at the beach, returned to Armstrong Grove and even drove up to Bullfrog Pond (my husband was hoping to fish) and drove up to Ft Ross which was really interesting. Thanks again for facilitating a marvelous holiday for us and our friends from Germany.

My friend and I went to Falling Leaf in late April and it was a perfect time of year to enjoy the home. It was lovely and warm in the day so we were able to use the decks and grill, and cool enough at night to use the gas stove and the spa. The cabin is relative secluded even though it is in a little riverside neighborhood of cabins. I used the tea house as a meditation space every day—a very special touch. We also used the gift card special to get lunch at Big Bottom Market in the downtown area nearby; it was delicious and the tiny town was adorable and filled with friendly store/restaurant owners. A lovely cabin in a lovely part of CA. Also a beautiful, short drive to Redwood State Nature Preserve and Sonoma Beach State Park. Doesn't get better!-Airbnb Guest-

Our family of 5 had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas at your house. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub, the Tea House and the peace and quiet. The checking in and out instructions were very clear. We enjoyed the indoor fireplace and had fun family time. We LOVED the taco truck in the Safeway lot and the bookstore/cafe (cinnamon buns). We drove to wineries, Armstrong Redwoods, Fuller Beach and Bodega Bay. We would recommend for a quiet retreat.Source: VRBOManager Response:Thank you for the great review! Just spent a few days at Falling Leaf. We were a group of five plus dog and had a super comfortable stay. The house feels cozy and the tub/spa was a fantastic treat in this very cold winter weather. Not sure if it says so in the description but the property is fully fenced and has space to sniff around so our dog was extra happy.

This was a great house for a weekend away with friends. We were six adults, and we had plenty of space for relaxing, cooking, and eating together. We didn't take advantage of any of the outdoor space or the hot tub, because the air quality was very poor due to the Camp Fire, but we were quite content spending the whole weekend inside. The gas fireplace kept the house nice and warm, and the kitchen had all the fixings we needed to cook meals together. The tea house was beautiful, and we were very cozy so long as we remembered to turn on the gas fireplace an hour or two before we went to sleep. If you're staying in the tea house during the colder months, I would recommend warm pajamas -- during our stay it was in the mid-40s overnight, and though we set the thermostat on the heater to 62, the ambient temperature topped out at 52 (at least according to the thermostat). Overall this was a great place to stay, and we've already talked about coming back again!-Airbnb Guest-

This place was... so awesome. The kitchen and grill, the tea house, the hot tub, everything was great. The kitchen was very, very well stocked. Pretty much any utensil you could think of, and plenty of spices and supplies. It got cold at night and the tea house takes all of 3 minutes to warm up if you use the heater and set the thermostat. It's hard to beat the hot tub under the trees for a place to unwind. It's also in a great location to take advantage of all the Russian River area has to offer. Last, but certainly not least, the staff at RRVH was great in answering questions ahead of our visit and setting us up with some wine tasting options once we were there.

This is THE spot!! I rented this amazing place with a couple of friends for a relaxing weekend getaway. We were sadly rained out all weekend, so we spent a little more time than planned inside the house, which turned out to be no problem at all. All the amenities were AMAZING (trust me we used most of them): the hammock was comfortable for long conversations, the hot tub clean and conveniently located near a sliding door leading to the spacious, spotlessly clean bathroom, and the teahouse was so inviting (just know you're at the mercy of nature in there, aka light and animal noises)! We had no problems with the heater in the teahouse, but be sure to warm up the teahouse before you're ready for bed. The only real blip we had was that an extra perk we weren't expecting, an installed speaker system, was a little broken, but it's not like it was advertised anyway (too good to be true...). The kitchen was more well stocked than I thought it would be, but bring your own tinfoil if you're planning to use the outdoor grill. Being inside with a lot of time on our hands meant we cooked our own dinners, and this kitchen made it just as easy as cooking at home. I loved the convenient layout of the house, and the beds were comfortable and warm. I got my perfect weekend in the woods and made such cozy memories here, I couldn't ask for anything more! My group of six had a fantastic time at Falling Leaf! It's an adorable setting, and here are a few thoughts that other guests might find relevant: - The Tea House was... so adorable. In the winter, it might be annoying to go between the Tea House and the main house in the rain, but this isn't a concern for most of the year. It was a beautiful place to unwind every night after a hard day at one of the pools in town and wine tasting. :) - The houses are up a fairly hefty set of railroad-tie steps. It keeps the traffic noise/light from passing cars nonexistent, but would be hard for anyone with mobility issues. - The deck and hot tub were beautiful and we didn't see any major issues with maintenance. The kitchen is well-equipped, and we appreciated the ample supplies of TP/paper towels/trash bags/laundry stuff for a week-long stay. - There's a time of year where the creek stops flowing, before the creek evaporates, where there's still water and lots of bugs. I'd roughly estimate this at June-August, but YMMV, but in any event bring some bug spray! It's definitely not a major problem, but you'll feel better if you have it on hand that first evening. Otherwise, definitely book this place, and enjoy quiet evenings among the Redwoods!

We absolutely LOVED staying at Falling Leaf. If you are looking for something a little different "Falling Leaf" is your house. We travel as a large family and I pride myself on finding unique homes, so that our kids are blown away, at how different each are. They remember each one and Falling Leaf did not disappoint. We LOVED staying at this house. There was plenty of room, the beds were so comfortable and the TEA House was a huge hit! My only caution would be that there are a lot of steps, but if you can manage those this is your house! The town was also very fun and there are dozens of wineries near by! As a side note River Homes's (who rents this house) was wonderful to work with. My son thought he left a bag in the house after we left and they went up and above to help us! Our experience was one of a kind! The property is beautiful and nestled high above the street so you really feel secluded. House and beds are a bit small (I think one was a double) but the deck space is stunning and is where we spent lot of time. Could use a little TLC- as far as outside maintenance and perhaps some string lights or mood lighting to make moving around the hot tub at night a little easier. We also could not get the tea House heater to turn in but luckily it was warm enough with two in the bed. Overall love the charm of the house and the neighborhood and would come back again given the opportunity!-Thank you so much for staying with us! If guests have trouble with anything in the house (like a heater) we'd love to hear about it right away - we are happy to help troubleshoot, or to arrange repair. I stayed here with my sister and close friend. It was so much fun! We stopped at the grocery store before we arrived and prepared lovely meals in the well stocked kitchen. They even made sure to have utensils for the grill. Very thoughtful. We had a brief hiccup with the fireplaces but they sent someone right away and we were all good for the rest of our stay! The main house was very cozy with enough room to not feel crowded. I stayed in the Tea House and it was so peaceful. I won this as a prize from my company. In sales being able to wind down is essential. We all agreed it was the perfect get-away spot and would stay there again!

Myself, a few friends, and our dog spent the weekend at Falling Leaf and it was a truly wonderful experience. The living room was spacious with comfy couches and huge windows. We loved all of the awesome decks, patios, hammock, and outdoor areas and, of course, the hot tub! The kitchen was very well equipped, which was helpful, and the grill was awesome. It's only a very short drive into "downtown" Guerneville but the house itself feels remote/secluded (great location!).My only "complaint" (or, just something to be aware of) is that there wasn't any air conditioning , which was not mentioned in the description/amenities, and there was only one working fan. I understand that air conditioning isn't always common in cabins in this area, so don't fault them for not having it by any means. I just wish we had known in order to mange expectations, and I would have brought extra fans as it was 90+ degrees this weekend! So, other than the unmanaged expectations around air con, everything was absolutely wonderful. I will definitely return during cooler times of the year!

We had a lovely time at Falling Leaf for a friend's going away party. The tea house was adorable, hot tub fun, and kitchen well equipped. Loved the old stove! A few more towels would have been nice. It felt like camping in the woods with the luxury of a nice bed and nice food at the end of the night!

We spent Thanksgiving 2016 at Falling Leaf. There were six adults and one dog. There was enough room for all of us and even the one bathroom wasn't too much of an issue. The house is tucked up in the trees which we loved looking up at. We used the barbecue to heat up Thanksgiving sides as the kitchen oven was VERY small. We loved the hot tub twice a day. We brought a 1500 jigsaw puzzle and placed it on the coffee table which we worked on during football games. We went out during the days to Guerneville and Santa Rosa but ate home in the evenings. It was a GREAT place to spend a holiday we were very pleased. Our recommendations: the stove needs to be updated as we had to call for help in lighting it. I understand the idea of an old stove but it was not very efficient. Also, the lighting in the kitchen was very dim and hard to see while preparing. Other than that it was Perfect. We would highly recommend it.
