We spent Thanksgiving 2016 at Falling Leaf. There were six adults and one dog. There was enough room for all of us and even the one bathroom wasn't too much of an issue. The house is tucked up in the trees which we loved looking up at. We used the barbecue to heat up Thanksgiving sides as the kitchen oven was VERY small. We loved the hot tub twice a day. We brought a 1500 jigsaw puzzle and placed it on the coffee table which we worked on during football games. We went out during the days to Guerneville and Santa Rosa but ate home in the evenings. It was a GREAT place to spend a holiday we were very pleased. Our recommendations: the stove needs to be updated as we had to call for help in lighting it. I understand the idea of an old stove but it was not very efficient. Also, the lighting in the kitchen was very dim and hard to see while preparing. Other than that it was Perfect. We would highly recommend it.

"The perfect home to celebrate with close friends"

5 of 5

To celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary, I rented this home as a surprise to my husband and invited some of our closest friends to help with the surprise. The warmth of the home made it feel like it was our own. The kitchen has a ton of character and layout of the home made it fun to navigate. We actually spent 95% of our time there on the back patio where we BBQ'd, played cards, enjoyed drinks and laughs with friends and warmed up in the hot tub through out the night. It was quiet and serene and we felt peacful while we were there. A bonus was the no cell covereage... No one was checking their email or texting. The TEA HOUSE... OHH MY GOSH! This room was so amazing. I had many choices of homes and this room alone sold me... The fact that it was off set from the home, but so close gave you a sense of privacy even amongst friends. The room was inviting and really draws you in and begs you to close the doors and hide away from the world with the love of your life! This place would be great for families with older kids and a couples group get away! The price is right! The feeling of being far away in a secluded forest was a high point and knowing we can replenish our food and drink supply at the nearby Safeway was awesome. We ate out, We ate IN! We had an absolutely amazing time! And we will do it again!!!

"Relaxing, cozy, winter retreat"

5 of 5

We stayed here for a week over the Christmas holiday with our two young adult sons. The cabin is clean, comfortable and cozy. The tea house third bedroom was chilly, but still delightful! Little details, such as backyard lights on timers, and automatic lights when you step out of the tea house at night add a little luxury. Nice landscaping. Moss-covered trees and stone walls add to the ambiance. Although neighbors are close, the cabin is situated for maximum privacy. Location in Guerneville is perfect for day trips to the rocky coast or the vineyards to the east. We would highly recommend this vacation rental!

Manager Response:

Thank you for the great feedback!
Falling Leaf is perfectly tucked under the trees (and aptly named) for privacy. The Tea House is a separate structure with King bed - very romantic! There's a gas fireplace and separate space heater to warm things up... In the summer it's perfectly cool when the rest of the county needs air conditioning!

We'd love to see you again!

"Great intimate home in a peaceful setting"

5 of 5

This was a great home that my husband, dog, and I really enjoyed. The home was cozy and perfect for a week of peace, quite, and relaxation. The tea room was very nice even in the chillier months. The hot tub was a nice amenity, the older stove was fun to use. Our dog enjoyed the fully fenced yard to run around. If you are looking for a small well appointed home in a great location this is the home to rent.

"Great Cabin Vibe with an awesome Teahouse"

4 of 5

My girlfriend booked this place for a romantic getaway and it delivered. The house is well equipped with the notable exception of a stereo you can plug a device into (CDs and cassettes only). What you're really paying for is the teahouse, a backyard that's a wooded hillside, and not interacting with other people. The teahouse is a delight. It's wonderful to look up through the skylights and see the trees literally dropping leaves. The check-in process was a bit cumbersome but once we were in, we were set. The grill and hot tub were great also.

Manager Response:

Hello!
Thank you for sharing such a great review! We're always happy for feedback and will share yours with the owner too. We're steadily moving towards more homes with keyless entry systems to ease the check in process. If you'd like to email me directly (megan@riverhomes.com) I'd appreciate any specifics you're willing to share about the process so we can make it easier for future guests.

I'm so glad to hear you loved the teahouse - it's one of a kind!

"Falling Leaf-falling down"

3 of 5

Could use a better equipped kitchen,, especially a better wine opener. Some of the light bulbs were burned out, perhaps might want to sweep both decks before rental. They were very messy with leaves. Nice to have washer and dryer, but they took forever to run. If it had a second bathroom it would be a better deal. It was very hard to find the road, not easily marked. Just enough common room for 5 people to hang out somewhat comfortably. Not for small children or old people. Too many odd shaped stairs to entrance up the hill. Not as far to town if you know where the first street entrance is located, otherwise seems like a long drive if you miss it and GPS takes you farther down road.

Manager Response:

Hi!
Thanks for leaving a review - and giving us a chance to respond! We actually do have someone sweep the decks the day of or the day before guests arrive, but the house is tucked in the trees and is very aptly named "Falling Leaf."

We try to let everyone know to follow the written directions we provide with the guest agreement... Car navigation and online mapping systems are often flat out wrong here! Since we're more familiar with roads we write out the best driving directions for guests.

We also try to describe the house as accurately and well as possible on our website - with a written description and photos. There is only one bathroom and the yard is more natural feeling - paths conture to the hill and steps are stone - beautiful!

"Tea House Heaven"

5 of 5

Love, Love, Loved the tea house sleep experience. The house was comfortable. One of our favorite features aside from the teahouse was the classic bass stove range in the kitchen- absolutely charming!!

Manager Response:

Yeah!
Staying at Falling Leaf is a completely unique experience - we're so glad you appreciated and enjoyed it all! The tea house is superb for couples that want privacy away from the family AND for kids that want to try something completely new. And the stove is cool too! There's nothing quite like cooking on an old-style gas stove. It's more than just cooking with friends or family - you're building memories.

We think Falling Leaf is charming too! Thank you for sharing with future guests!

"We all loved the home, so clean, peaceful and a place to create memories!"

5 of 5

We all were so pleased with our accomadations and especially the Tea Room where my husband and I stayed. I surprised him for his birthday and we couldn't have more satisfied with the home, the beautiful yard and the location. We have friends who live down the street and they want to stay there too! I am looking forward to coming back again during the summer and just relax in the outdoor living space. But back to the Tea Room, so tranquil, clean, comfortable, and we both slept so peacefully, and the best was waking up to the sight of the redwoods!

Manager Response:

Hi!
Thanks for sharing your great experience! I wish I could stay in the Tea House too! It must have been great... Falling Leaf is also close enough to Hulbert Creek to hear the water gurgle and splash too - a recipe for a good night's sleep!

"Falling Leaf for Thanksgiving"

4 of 5

My friends and I stayed at this lovely property for Thanksgiving and had a great time. It was raining the whole time, so it was nice staying in with the fireplaces cooking and catching up. There is only one bathroom, so if you have a full house, it can be slightly challenging. The stove was awesome to cook with and the sleeping pavilion was very charming. The steps were a little precarious in the rain and could use better lighting. Overall, I would stay here again.

Manager Response:

Hello!

Thank you for sharing your review! Falling Leaf is a great place to be snug! I'll pass on your note about the lights at the steps... I thought they were good last time I was there, but maybe a few more can be added - I admit I wasn't there after dark.

I hope we'll see you again soon!

"Labor Day Weekend at Falling Leaf"

5 of 5

What a great cabin!! I am recovering from spinal surgery and thought it would be nice to spend the holiday weekend with close friends and family at a peaceful cabin in the Russian River area. Falling leaf was perfect! The cabin has a great floor plan with plenty of space and beautiful and quiet grounds. My spouse and I slept in the detached gazebo bedroom which was just wonderful. We had a very peaceful and quiet weekend enjoying the hot tub and outside BBQ. It was a perfect weekend!! The dogs also enjoyed it very much. I will caution dog owners that some plants and grasses on the grounds can cause allergic reaction to dogs with sensitive skin. Our Basenji broke out in rash all over but this tends to happen to her this time of year from contact with certain plants and grasses.Aside from that it was a great weekend and we'd definitely rent this cabin again.

Manager Response:

Hello!
Thank you for the review! Falling Leaf is a fantastic spot to get away with friends and dogs... The yard is fully fenced - to keep the owner's escape artists in. There is poison oak throughout the Russian River area, but I've never seen it *in* the yard there. If you spotted some - please let us know! My dog and I love walking in the creek bed across the street from Falling Leaf...

"Great setting"

5 of 5

The Falling Leaf house is set up above the road and has a very private feel, unlike many of the other homes in the area. The lovely back yard and Tea House give the place its unique charm. Perfect for 3 couples.

"Rustic, comfy home in the trees."

4 of 5

We loved Fallen Leaf. It felt woodsy and rustic, but was still comfortable. Great hot tub setting. This area had homes sitting very close together, but this house felt pretty private and removed from the neighbors.

Manager Response:

Glad you enjoyed Falling Leaf!
The yard is fully enclosed for dogs too!

"Pleasant stay - uphill climb!"

3 of 5

Lovely home in Guerneville with some drawbacks. The pros were the "hot tub" and the "gazebo bedroom". Very private back yard too. The cons were only one bathroom with 6 guests and the long climb from the street up to the house. One of our party had difficulty walking and once up in the house - did not come down until two days later when we left because of the outside stairs. Wish we had known about this before we booked the house.

Manager Response:

Dear BG,
I'm glad that you overall found your stay very enjoyable at Falling Leaf. It is a lovely, peaceful spot. I understand about the one bathroom, even though it is spacious and has double-vanity sinks. It is one of the reasons that the house only sleeps 6 people and is a great price for a three bedroom place (you may have noticed that most three bedroom two bath homes sleep 8). I am surprised by your comments about the exterior stairs. Yes, there are a good number of stairs from the driveway area to the house and decks. That is why the main house photo on our website, which was taken from the driveway, shows both the entire flight of stairs and the house at the top. And next time, if there is a particular feature that is of particular concern, call us before you reserve! We are certainly happy to help you choose the place that is the best fit for you.

"Loved our stay!"

4 of 5

This house was perfect for us, close to our family reunion, but seemingly secluded. The small Japanese style house was a fun little hideaway for my husband and I. Clean, quiet, affordable. I would recommend to friends and family.

great house, newly renovated and furnished with a fabulous hot tub, nestled in the forest. We had a great stay.

"Beautiful, secluded"

5 of 5

My boyfriend and I needed a romantic getaway and my goodness, this was wonderful! The house was beautiful, the kitchen was perfect to cook all of our meals. The stove/oven was a little tricky. It's very old, but we got the hang of it. The only thing I can say that maybe bothered me a little bit was the lack of lighting over/around the actual bbq. It would have made some of our dinners a little easier. Other than that, we could not have asked for a more beautiful home to relax in.

Manager Response:

Hello!

Thanks for the feedback! Hmmm. The BBQ gets much better evening light in the summer, but I'll make a suggestion to the owner about better winter lighting around the BBQ! Good idea!

Thanks for staying at Falling Leaf!
