Description

Bonne Chère is, as its name suggests, the ideal spot to kick back, relax and enjoy the good cheer and splendid food and wine that Sonoma County is known for. After a day of trolling for tasty finds (perhaps a new favorite bottle from a family-owned winery or a creamy goat cheese made near the Sonoma Coast or the freshest picks from one of the various farmer's markets), imagine relaxing with a good book and a glass of wine in Bonne Chère's comfortable living room, cooking a feast in the gourmet kitchen, lounging on the spacious deck or taking a soak in the private hot tub.

From a recent guest, "This is the cleanest and most cozy rental we have ever stayed in! We are having the best time and I wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful space. It is absolutely lovely."

Inside Bonne Chère, guests will find the home both delightful and modern. The kitchen is stocked for even the pickiest cook, and includes stainless steel appliances, gas stove, dishwasher, beautiful wood cabinets and tile, and a wine fridge. The living room has a large television, stereo (there is a CD collection available for guests), gas fireplace and ample seating. In both bedrooms, the beds are exceedingly comfortable and made with high-quality linens. The bathroom has modern tile work and a walk-in shower with a window so guests can admire the redwoods and lush hillside while showering (a window curtain can be closed if desired).

Outside Bonne Chère is an extension of the living space. There is outdoor dining, outdoor seating, a gas grill and a private hot tub area. The property continues to wrap around the house to a 'secret' sitting spot, perfect for enjoying a locally roasted cup of Joe or stargazing with a glass of wine. Tucked against a hillside in a Guerneville neighborhood, Bonne Chère feels like its own little private world. Although there are neighbors to both the left and the right, the landscaping around the house and the hillside behind the home provides redwood views and privacy. The upper yard is mostly fenced, but not dog-proof!

Bonne Chère is located in a Guerneville neighborhood a walkable distance from downtown Guerneville. Shops, restaurants, supermarket, river access and services are all within a mile of the property. The Sonoma Coast is 13 miles. Armstrong Redwoods is a 5-minute drive and there are many wineries in the Russian River Valley and beyond.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Bonne Chere is 4. Quiet hours are from 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking: There is space in the driveway for 2 vehicles (Garage is used for storage and not available for parking ). RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

A great cabin located in Guerneville with easy access to restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores etc. It's also about a 4 min drive to the Armstrong Red Wood reserve. The cabin was well maintained and clean as shown in pictures. It's great for a couple or a family of four. The only downside as many may have already noted is that there's just one bathroom attached to the master bedroom. This was not a problem for me as I used the space all to myself and my dog. The place comes with parking space that can fit 2 cars which was nice. Overall a great experience staying at this property. -via Airbnb

This Airbnb was very nice. The hosts were very clear in their communication. The location was very good - very close to downtown Guerneville. The one thing to note though, is that the only bathroom is the one attached to the master bedroom. So, the folks using the second bedroom will have to enter the main bedroom to use the bathroom. We have had a favorite house just up the street and were disappointed when it was not available so we found Bonne Chere. It is our new favorite! It's so comfortable and clean. Beautiful and well appointed furnishings inside and out. Feels like a home, not a rental. Will definitely be staying here when we come back to Guerneville.

We stayed here over July 4th during a heatwave and were so happy that they had AC. The home is perfect. We are A couple and a dog. We had everything and more that we needed. The house was spotless also the grill was pristine. That is the true mark of cleanliness in my book. We loved it and will be back.

We originally came for 2 nights but fell in love with the property and stayed for three. Wish we would have had more time. The place is beautiful and private. The kitchen has every appliance you can ever need and cookbooks to back them up. I am a pretty accomplished cook and I loved it! Beds are comfortable and it was so nice having our pup with us. We will be coming back!

We had a great time here. Even though it is closer to other homes it seems very private and quiet with all the trees and plants. The house was perfect for us as a family of 3. Keep in mind you do have to go through one room to get to the bathroom. The kitchen is fully stocked (almost too much as it made it hard in some drawers to sift through everything and find matching pots and lids. We did wish there were more towels to use. We were given exactly 4 bath towels. Be aware the house does not provide spa towels so that was a bit complicated. The spa was a great addition to the house. We would stay again. -via Airbnb

Bonne Chere was a great place to escape to for a long weekend. The kitchen is large and has practically every appliance, and the house is clean and comfortable. Environment is incredible. Home is spacious. Only one bathroom that is within the master room is inconvenient and not realistic for two couples. Had a great stay. Very clean home with lots of amenities. We used the grill and the hot tub! Really felt like home. It was quiet and peaceful. We drove just a short distance to the coast to cool off in the heat wave and enjoyed Guerneville in the evening when it was cooler. Too hot for the river for us!-via Airbnb

Thoroughly enjoyed our “girls trip” long weekend away. We arrived and were able to easily get in with our code. Do as they recommended on the website, save this information because the cellular service can be spotty. The home was well appointed with everything we needed. It was exactly what we were looking for a nice getaway tucked into the trees. We enjoyed the hot tub that was nice and clean. We had an issue with the shower and with a quick phone call River Homes had a plumber there within the hour. Great response. We would definitely stay here again.-via Airbnb

A perfect getaway! From the bottle of sparkling wine on arrival to our last soak in the hot tub under the redwoods, this was the perfect weekend. We all decided this was the best furnished AirBnb we've ever rented. We enjoy cooking and eating in, and REALLY appreciated the selection of glassware, table settings, and kitchen implements. The gas grill was even spotless! The home is so well decorated and really feels homey. There is even a great library of videos and dvds. Instructions for everything are clear and easy to follow. It's clear the hosts put a lot of thought (and time) into making this place special and it really comes through. And finally, best hot tub ever!-via Airbnb

Perfect location for us for all we planned to do. The house is one of the most comfortable we have stayed in across the USA. Clean, comfortable, well stocked, excellent hot tub including robes to wrap up in! We enjoyed the gas fireplace as the weather was on the cool side in December. Looking forward to another stay at Bonne Chere. By the way, Brian is the best. You have an exceptional employee in him! Merry Christmas

I absolutely loved this place! First of all, pics are exactly as shown on website which is a rarity. Great quiet location, was able to walk my dog on the street without worrying about fast traffic. Hot tub worked great, another rarity. Full, working amenities, comfy bed, the grounds were perfectly maintained, this is a house I'd want to live in. And the people at River Homes are very helpful and responsive.

This was one of the nicest and cleanest Airbnb we have rented. The decks were private and inviting. Bonne Chere provided the perfect getaway for my husband, dog and me. Literally everything you would ever think of needing was provided. Everything was in great working order. Our family loved the entire space. The kitchen was stocked with gadgets and utensils and everything worked! Cooking was easy. The beds were especially comfortable and cozy with thick blankets for nighttime. The hot tub was just perfect! We even had a frequent visitor from the hillside above the hot tub. A beautiful young, male blacktail deer with velvety 2-point antlers. We could not have asked for a better location to the redwoods and the coast. Easy access to everything. Lastly, the communication leading up to and during our stay made our arrival seamless and when we had a question, the response was immediate. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay would definitely stay again!-via Airbnb

This was our second time at a Russian River Valley house, and it was, again, glorious. Everything about this place was perfect for us, and it’s located so close to the main drag in Guerneville that you’d feel guilty not getting up and taking a walk for coffee in the morning. Wow! What a great home to stay in whim in the see. Myself, my husband and two small dogs spent five nights here. It’s a good base to explore the coast and many wine regions. Loved having the large kitchen and so many outdoor spaces to just relax and enjoy the afternoon after wine tasting. The kitchen is completely stocked with whatever you may need to cook or bags. I loved the large window in the shower. The little fireplace really warmed the house up nicely. Bed very cozy. If I’m the area again we’d stay here.-via Airbnb

Bonne Chere is even better in person! Cute, cozy, and immaculately clean. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need, the beds are super comfy, and the private hot tub is a wonderful amenity. The neighborhood is quiet and charming. We appreciated the suggested 2.2-mile loop walk around the neighborhood and along the creek. We highly recommend this property and look forward to a future stay!

Couldn't have had a better place to stay for a rainy weekend by the river. The seclusion of the back patio and hot tub, with the redwood s, were major perks. The kitchen is definitely stocked by people that cook. Quality appliances and lots and lots of glasses. The bed was comfortable and the tv was big! Great place

Bonne Chere was absolutely lovely. It was a fantastic get away and we appreciated all the amenities. We especially appreciated the fully stocked kitchen and gas bbq. This was one of the best kitchens that we stayed at. The deck and hot tub were also a plus. Russian River Rentals is doing a great job maintaining the property. We'll book again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It was clean, quiet, and well-located. The kitchen must have been very recently updated and was great for the (little bit) of cooking we did. We're not big users of A/C, but it's nice this place has that and a modern thermostat if it's needed in summer. The hot tub is private and really simple to operate.Overall a super nice little place - one we'd be happy to come back to.

Clean, quiet, great amenities and perfect location for day trips to the Sonoma Coast, wine country, hiking, etc.We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and cooking on the Weber grill multiple evenings. The central heat was also appreciated for those chilly Spring mornings! Highly recommend for a couple looking to unwind in a semi secluded home.Note, the main bedroom blinds are thin bamboo, you can see through. This took a little adjusting to since there are lights on a timer in the back of the house until 10 or 11pm. Also, one of the direct neighboring homes is currently for sale, so there was more activity on that side during the day, but still VERY quiet in general.Overall we had a wonderful week stay and would book again when visiting Guerneville.

I enjoyed a lovely week at Bonne Chere with my husband and our dog. The location is fantastic -- close to town and all that western Sonoma County has to offer -- and the neighborhood is great for peaceful walks in the redwoods. Though the house is close to the street, its quiet and the deck and hot tub offer much privacy. The house has all the amenities you need and everything is clean and in good condition. Just be advised that you have to go through one of the bedrooms to reach the only bathroom so it;s best to rent the house with people you know well.

Bonne Chere is an ideal Guerneville getaway. The location is perfect for peaceful walks in the redwoods and for accessing all that Guerneville, Healdsburg, the Russian River Valley and the Sonoma Coast have to offer. Between a TV, DVD player, washer/dryer and well-equipped kitchen, the house has everything you need. And though the house is right on the road, it's quiet and the deck/hot tub are private. Just not that the sole bathroom is only accessible through one of the bedrooms so it's best to share with people you know well.

Charming, quiet house tucked away in the redwoods. Nice outdoor space made this small house feel a little bigger.The house is perfect for two people, or a small family. The second bedroom in tiny and right off the living room so it's not ideal for a second couple.Old Cazadero Road is great for jogging or walking the dog. It has a nice neighborhood feel. You can walk to Baked on the River for coffee and baked goods.The house has a nice deck that wraps around the back of the house. You can access the hot tub directly from the deck off the main bedroom.Some perks were Japanese bathrobes and lots of glassware for cocktail lovers. The hairdryer was ancient so bring your own.Not fancy, but a good value. I'd stay here again.

This is a lovely little house, far enough out of Guerneville to feel like a retreat from town but close enough that it's easy to walk or drive to Safeway to grab whatever you need. It's been lovingly updated in a colorful style, and the newer finishes make it feel sparkling clean in a way that many of the older home rentals in the area can't (even when they've just been professionally cleaned). For those who worry they'll miss the funky touches that remind you you're in the Russian River area, don't worry — the floor slopes some (I think the home was built in the 40s) and there are some fun and offbeat decor choices like the peacock pillows and decorative elephant ornament on the deck. The house is very well-equipped with nice glassware, dishes, cookware, board games, etc. We stayed in the winter and didn't use the outdoor deck spaces much, but all the different outdoor seating areas would be lovely in the summer. As the description mentions, the space is a cozy size, you walk through the master bedroom to get to the one bathroom, and the second bedroom doesn't really have a door, just a curtain, so I would only stay with people that you feel *very* comfortable with.The lot is relatively narrow and the neighbor homes to the left and right are very close, but even on New Year's Eve, the neighborhood was peaceful and we couldn't hear any noise from nearby houses. The hot tub is close to the edge of the property but has lovely bamboo and greenery around it and feels very private. We loved that the house is surrounded by beautiful redwood trees in most directions, but still manages to get lots of good sunlight for most of the day.

The cottage was beautiful, peaceful and very nice. We enjoyed the outdoor space and spa. The indoor space is bright and warm with all the amenities needed. The location was ideal to outlets such as Bodega Bay and Healdsburg. Darling house tucked in the woods with a wonderful deck. We loved the setting and the house, the bathroom in the master was a bit strange with another couple tho. Also the neighbors are very close and were noisy into the night on the weekend. Had to ask for extra towels as only gave us one for the week. Management needs to check the reason for a smokey oven and functionality of the smoke detectors. Great selection of CDs and DVDs and otherwise comfy. We would consider returning. - Thank you for staying with us! =) We are glad that you had a nice week! Generally this residential neighborhood is fairly peaceful and quiet time starts at 10:00 pm. We do speak to our neighbors, so we'll mention the noisy night to them. We supply 4 sets of towels for Bonne Chere- one for each person the house sleeps, and this information is included in our arrival instructions. Bonne Chère is a fantastic summer retreat. This place is absolute perfection! Highlights include a spectacular deck, cozy living space, fully stocked kitchen, and a hot tub. We cooked almost every night and spent as much time lounging on the patio furniture as possible. Appreciated the welcome bubbly and dog-friendliness! We wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back!Minor areas for improvement:1) A note of caution about yellow jackets would be helpful for future summer/fall guests. I was stung (my fault), so definitely learned we needed to exercise caution with eating and drinking outside. We bought some dryer sheets and peppermint oil to help. Some food screens would be also great for protection if guests would like to eat outside.2) An aux cable to connect a phone or iPod to the receiver would be nice so guests can listen to their own music. That being said, it was kind of fun to enjoy the owners' eclectic music collection the old-fashioned way.Manager Response:Hello and thank you for the great feedback and suggestions. We never want to leave Bonne Chere either! The yellow jackets have been a bit worse this year, but we always encourage guests to call our office if there's something like a pest invasion during your stay. We had a refreshing, relaxing weekend away. A little cramped for four people and one bathroom that was through the master bedroom. Also, there were no trash bags, only four towels, and one roll of paper towels upon arrival. However, the hot tub, kitchen amenities, closeness to town, and access to streaming television made for the weekend we were hoping for.

What a darling little home! My husband, two dogs and I enjoyed a long weekend at this charming location! Everything has been well thought out and the kitchen is a dream. The hot tub was sparkling clean and felt so rejuvenating in the cool evenings. Because the only bathroom is in the master bedroom this may be a better rental for a family. Russian River Vacation Homes was fantastic from start to finish! Professional, friendly and a delight to deal with, I'd give this stay a 10 out of 10!

I only recently discovered Guerneville and have fallen in love with the town and surrounding areas. The first time I visited I stayed in a number of nice hotels, which was fine, but expensive (I have a dog). But I decided on this trip to try renting a home, and I will never stay in a hotel again, if I have the choice.Bonne Chere was everything it was advertised to be, only better. I was there for a little over two weeks. I was on my own for part of the time and had guests for both weekends. It was the perfect house for both. I felt safe and happy on my own, which was a concern not knowing what the neighborhood would be like. And there was also plenty of room for guests when they came. It was a beautiful house to entertain in. (The only bathroom being in the Master Bedroom was a little hiccup. But it's not hard to work that out if you like your friends. It really wasn't a big deal, because the house is so comfortable in general.)When they say they have a gourmet kitchen, they are not kidding. There were at least four different types of coffee makers, everything from a Press to a Bialiati to a traditional coffee maker. Same for tea. And literally everything you need to cook whatever you want to cook is right there. I do love to cook so I was so happy to find there was food processor, blender, every size pan and all really well placed in that kitchen. Filtered water and ice from the fridge and an excellent stove. I saved a fortune on going out. And the area has fresh salmon and really good beef, and veggies. It's nice to go out, but it was almost better eating in at that house.And did I mention the grill???? In perfect condition. Easy to use. When my friends came to visit we made some of the best meals I've had to date in Guerneville.The owners thought of everything you might want when lounging. They had one cabinet of just board games. There was a DVD shelf, filled with movies for every interest and age.The flat screen television and the stereo are surround sound and there are a lot of viewing options. I'm not someone who watches much TV, but I indulged. And the hot tub is perfectly situated for complete privacy. I would lean back and look up into the redwood trees, stars peeking through at night. Ah. Heaven!!!!!Washer and dryer were great to have because you get dirty hiking and getting out and about.My guests did not want to leave. I did not want to leave. I actually tried to stay longer but the home was booked.I was there for a personal, semi-artist's retreat and there all these lovely places on the property to write and paint both inside and out. The house is near to everything: Duncan Mills, Jenner, Bodega Bay, Guernville Center, the beaches, Armstrong Woods, so you can bike to a lot of places. Yet in the house I felt like I was in my own world. Only problem was sometimes I didn't want to leave the house. And so I did less sightseeing than I do when I stay in a hotel. And I also have to say that I loved the agency that handles this property. They are incredibly friendly and efficient. And the woman who came to clean over the two weeks I was there was lovely as well. Every experience I had with this home contributed to a wonderful, relaxing time.I will be returning.
