Description

Blackberry Bliss is a tranquil, romantic, and well-appointed vintage cabin on the banks of lovely Austin Creek - a setting of breathtaking beauty. Built in 1954 and lovingly restored and updated, the house features a private creekside beach and sunny, level backyard meadow. Blackberry Bliss's 1,000 sq ft redwood deck includes a private outdoor hot tub, custom oversized redwood chaise lounges, dining bistro, and additional seating delivers views of the creek, yard, flowers, and trees, including the majestic redwoods. At night, you'll rejoice in the privacy of magical moon and star-filled nights.

Inside, you’ll find vaulted open wood beamed ceilings, French doors that seamlessly bring the outdoors in, custom finished redwood detailing, and live-edge pass through bar. Blackberry Bliss is artistically furnished including an eclectic collection of both local and international art and artifacts.

Blackberry Bliss is minutes from Guerneville, the Sonoma Coast/beaches, and nearby historic Russian River towns, including Duncan's Mills, Jenner, and Bodega Bay - with great restaurants, wine tasting, golf, and fun shopping.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Blackberry Bliss is 2 people. Quiet hours are from 9:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking: There is parking for 2 cars in front of the house. RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Pet Friendly: This home welcomes up to 2 well-mannered dogs. If you have more than 2 dogs or other types of pets, please contact us to see if exceptions can be made before reserving.

Bed Sizes: Master Bedroom: King; "Bonus" Room: Queen.

Heat Source: Woodstove and Gas Fireplace.

Stairs: There are less than 10 steps to the front door and several steps from the back deck to the lawn and backyard. The main deck has a couple steps to the hot tub area.

Work from HERE: Blackberry Bliss has two workspaces - one in the living room and one just off the bedroom - plus a darling dining nook at the front of the house.

Fencing: The backyard is partially fenced while the front and back decks are fully enclosed for kids and dogs.

Common Amenities not included: This home does not have Air Conditioning, but with the blessing of redwood trees, you most likely won't need it anyway.

Location: Blackberry Bliss is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park in the driveway and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Thank you for helping to continue the tradition of a mutually beneficial relationship between vacation rentals and local community!

Seasonal Creek: The water level in Austin Creek varies seasonally – running most of the year. Some years we see deep spots to splash about in the summer and some years they are mostly dry. With heavy rainfall in the winter, it may not be safe to play in the creek. Please use caution.

Proximity to wineries: There are an abundance of wineries and tasting rooms in West Sonoma County - several in downtown Guerneville and many more within a short drive. The famed vineyards of Westside Road are 16 miles from the house.

Nearest River Beach: The closest public river beach is 7 miles away in Monte Rio.

Nearest Ocean Beach: The closest ocean beaches are on the Sonoma Coast in Jenner – approx. 9 miles from the house.

A delightful getaway spot. The redwoods can be chilly in the evening, but there is a precious little woodstove with all of the firewood and other supplies provided. If you don't want to fiddle with that there's also a separate gas-powered heating stove, as well as plenty of space heaters. But the woodstove alone was just right for us.

River Homes’s was a magical experience. Surrounded by Redwoods and a cute creek behind was amazing. Hummingbirds in the morning just made the Sonoma County leg of our trip that much better. Beach activities just 30 minutes away, but still able to get to Sonoma/Napa in less than 2 hours. But staying outside of the normal tourist trap areas made it worth every minute. I wish we could have stayed longer! This house among the redwoods is special. Easy access to main roads, and even with neighbors very private. The hot tub in evenings looking up at the sky and stars through the trees was memorable. As soon as we opened the car doors, I could smell the redwood trees. The house was clean and comfortable and had many conveniences. It was perfect. Thank you to the owners for opening up their special home to us. Just a note, it was chilly in the house when we arrived at night mid-October, but warmed up nicely inside. Life is about making memories. -via Airbnb

What a stunning place and cozy cabin. The hummingbirds flitting around all day were just such fun to watch. It is pretty quiet but the neighbors are close and I could hear them talking and laughing quite a bit which is fine but I really love the quiet of nature. Overall though, the yard is big and the creek is magical. The cabin had such a magical vibe. I'd definitely stay again. -via Airbnb

Beautiful location on Austin Creek and underneath the Redwoods. Close to Guerneville, Duncan Mills, the Coast. Well-stocked kitchen. Beautiful deck and private beach area on creek. Expansive, sunny lawn. Home itself is functional, with issues: because it’s right under redwoods it’s cold and dark all day; dining area is small, dark, and cold in what should be the entry foyer; the decor is excessively cluttered and dated; main issue was the too much too soft, too lumpy beds. We had terrible nights’ sleep and were tired most of our stay because of it. The management company was extremely responsive and sensitive to our concerns but in the end, they couldn’t exactly provide new mattresses on the spot. -via Airbnb

The home gets a good amount of sun during the day but by the afternoon is shaded which is quite nice in the summer months! Especially without air conditioning. We had such a relaxing time at blackberry bliss! We spent most of our mornings on the back porch watching the humming birds. The hot tub was fantastic, as was the scenery! The master bed was incredibly comfy and we felt like we had all the amenities we needed to enjoy our time. We hope to return soon!

The property is well represented by the photos. I agree with every positive review. It is very quiet and peaceful, aside from the whir of the hummingbird wings! My only issue is the yard is not fenced. This may not be a problem if you aren't visiting with dogs as I was. -via Vrbo

Such a charming, peaceful oasis! Nestled in the redwoods, quiet and private, swarming with sweet little hummingbirds, we soaked in the hot tub every night and found a great swimming hole down the creek!! This place was so serene, it was truly hard to leave. Great little spots to shop down the way in Duncans Mills. We booked this cabin for a weekend getaway to celebrate our anniversary. It's extremely charming and comfortable, in a beautiful setting surrounded by redwood trees. We especially liked the large deck and yard overlooking a stream, the quiet neighborhood, the wood burning stove, the reliable internet, and the hot tub. The kitchen is well stocked and management is very responsive (though be advised that AT&T cell service doesn't work out here). We would suggest some improvements: 1) The main (king) bedroom doesn't have a door to block it from the living room, so be aware that there's a potential lack of privacy, as well as a lot of light. We also found the bed uncomfortable, as it was very soft and had pronounced lumps and body indentations. 2) If you prefer a dark room for sleeping, bring an eye mask—some windows don't have coverings. 3) The second (queen) bedroom had a better (if still soft) bed, but it was covered with dog hair on our visit. We spent a week in December at Blackberry Cabin and could not have been happier with our choice. The cabin was clean, and comfortable and provided all the necessities. We spent most of our time on the deck enjoying the amazing Redwoods and hot tub. The hummingbirds were quite entertaining! We grilled out every night, then cozied up in front of the wood fireplace. Thank you so much for providing everything needed for a peaceful, relaxing getaway. We will definitely stay again!

It is worth every penny the pictures are gorgeous but it’s even more gorgeous in person I was in awe I even had a tear (life has been stressful) It was the first time I’ve felt fully at peace it was just amazing I’m not rich by any means I live paycheck to paycheck but things like this we deserve life is too short and I highly recommend if you wanna go to Russian River stay here it’s the most beautiful place-via Airbnb

Love this place - quiet, beautiful, clean, restful and while everywhere else was steaming hot - this place cooled off well at night and then we closed the windows and doors and kept the cool air inside - that was super nice - no need for air con - which frankly I don’t much care for anyhow I would highly recommend this place - it’s the second time we’ve stayed there and I’d happily return-via Airbnb

We had a lovely stay! Right away, we noticed the swarm of hummingbirds that danced and fought over the feeders. Was fascinating. The creek is accessible and we spent some time hiking up the creek until we found the road again. This place is situated just right so that the afternoon sun hits the deck. It's an ideal spot for a double couple get-away or maybe a small family. Kitchen was well stocked and pleasant to use. Plenty of options for climate control if you want to be cozy. The hot tub was perfect and easy to operate. There were what looked like mosquitos outside but we never got bit. A very serene and quiet place that we would definitely revisit.-via Vrbo

We had a great weekend at this cabin. The location was easy to find, and a short drive to larger surrounding cities for additional food/drink/sights. We were allowed to arrive early, the cabin was clean, we felt secure, and the gated back deck was a huge plus with our dogs! The cabin is magical at night with the wood stove burning, and stars in the huge backyard space. The creek in the back was perfect for letting the dogs run around. We do lots of traveling with our little pups - this place was HANDS DOWN the best ever. I almost don't want to leave a review in case it gets too booked up. We go to the Russian River area often but this was first time in Cazadero. We didn't want to leave the house- the deck(s), the view(s), the 360 degree redwood trees, the sound of the creek, and the hummingbirds dive bombing us, made us feel like we had found a piece of heaven. Our dogs didn't want to leave. We had to grab them by the collar to get them back in the car. Can't say enough about the Russian River Vacation Homes staff - they were friendly, very helpful, and a pleasure to deal with. We've already booked a second trip - can't wait to return.

This place was truly a dream. We kept saying how incredible the view was and could not get over the beauty. We noticed the many little details put in that make the place feel like home and so inviting. We seriously could live there. The jacuzzi, both fireplaces... the incredible desk... this is the best vacation cabin we have ever been to hands down and we have been to a lot! We never return to the same cabin but we can not wait to book this one again and are telling everyone who will listen! Everything was so clean and comfy. The view was incredible even on the days we were rained in. The creek access was gorgeous and so crisp! The walk around the property is beautiful and breathtaking. We could not believe that was our view for the whole week. OMG, it was truly amazing. A little slice of heaven and truly pure bliss. Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous vacation home with us. It's a great place for a romantic getaway or for a small family to enjoy quiet, peaceful time communing in nature, and away from the hustle of city life. This is a beautiful little house in the woods with direct river access (Austin Creek) from the backyard. Unfortunately it rained for our entire stay and the first night we even lost power because of the storm in the area. We realized that if you lose power you also lose water as the water pump needs electricity to run. There is also no cell phone reception either so we had to drive to Guerneville to be able to place calls. Without running water we considered to pack our things and head back home but luckily power and water came back at around 4pm that day. It kept raining throughout our stay but the house kept us cozy and warm. We were able to take some short walks outdoors and the place is beautiful. I could tell how amazing this place would be if we had better luck with the weather. Even with our trouble with the storm we enjoyed our stay! If you are looking for a quiet private getaway in the woods I highly recommend this place.-via VRBO

Wow! This place is so amazing. The cabin is nestled in a redwood forest like it’s plopped down right into a state park. So many hummingbirds zooming around all day, dappled sunlight through the trees, and plenty of stars at night…it was like a fairytale. Everything we needed was provided for in this rental from the well supplied kitchen, firewood for the wood stove, the relaxing well maintained hut tub down to the doggy blankets and toys provided for our pups. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly. As soon as we walked into this cozy little cabin we knew it was well cared for by management and treasured by all its visitors. What an absolutely beautiful property. My wife and I traveled all the way from Pennsylvania never having visited northern California before. We spent hours and hours soaking up the magic of this calm retreat. Close to wineries and the fun town of Guerneville, and we had no idea until we left to drive up the coast, it is surprisingly close to the ocean. Every amenity you could ever want. Our mornings were spent fascinated by all of the hummingbirds feeding on the back deck. We really had wonderful stay at Blackberry Bliss cabin. We enjoyed the beautiful setting among the Redwoods...we felt like we were just surrounded by nature. It was exactly what we were looking for. Spent a lot of time enjoying the expansive decks and many sitting areas all around the property. Loved the hot tub and the privacy!! The professional hot tub maintenance company came to check the hot tub...all A-OK. Everything inside and out was well maintained and very clean. Super comfortable king-size bed made it difficult to get up in the morning. The bathrooms are a bit on the small side but we adjusted. To future guests, there's no cell service in the area. We (hubby & wife) had a wonderful 9 day stay. This is our 4th vacation rental in Cazadero and one of the best. What differentiates a good vacation rental from an amazing vacation rental - the small things. This place covered all the big things perfectly: clean, represented accurately, good communication, well stocked, etc. But what took it above and beyond were things like the wonderful linens - both towels and bed sheets; the sharp knives (oh how we hate dull knives); non stick pans that are actually non stick; a robust wifi that allowed us both to work (both of us have an abundance of online meetings); and clear instructions placed around the home. It’s these little things that make staying in a home that’s not yours so much nicer. The pictures and description make you excited to go, the little things make you so happy you did.-via Airbnb

My stay was lovey. A home in the redwoods but with plenty of sun during the day. everything was comfortable. Very regulated since this property is managed by River Homes Management, not AirB&B. The area was more remote than I had anticipated-not in a bad way but maybe not the place for someone who is a bit uneasy in remote, especially if they are on their own. I would rent it again! What a lovely cabin with a wonderful deck. I had the best night's sleep there and we loved sitting on the deck looking at the redwoods. It was a great location, only 10 minutes to Duncan Mills. We also appreciated the fully stocked kitchen and the hot tub. We would definitely stay there again.

Blackberry Bliss was beyond blissful. A tranquil , utterly adorable and extremely well stocked cabin nestled amongst soaring redwoods. It was even more charming than the pictures made it look and I spent hours sitting on the large decking listening to the birds and enjoying the beautiful scenery. This is a great getaway if you are looking for peace and quiet, but still want to be close to wineries, beaches and Sonoma County towns. This place is a fabulous. Surrounded by Redwood trees and a killer deck and hot tub. There were 4 hummingbird feeder's and it was unbelievable the amount of birds they attracted. The bed was so comfortable. The basics are all supplied including shampoo, conditioner, shower soap, hand soap etc. Just bring coffee and filters for the coffee maker. Wineries are close by. This was our first time staying at Blackberry Bliss and we absolutely fell in LOVE with it! The entire property was beautiful - inside and out. The cabin and property is very well cared for (everything worked!!). We were very impressed with the cozy and warm decor of the cabin, as well as, the deck and yard with the easy creek access was PERFECT to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. We had fun picking Blackberries too! Even the road the cabin is on was a beautiful hike. We are already booking our next two stays!

We had the best stay at Blackberry Bliss! The house is very well stocked with essentials and then some, and very well taken care of. Communication with the rental agency was clear and helpful, making check-in and checkout super easy. The property is beautiful, remote and relaxing. Our dog loved the yard and we enjoyed the deck and hot tub. Would highly recommend anyone stay here!

Such a lovely location and peaceful retreat! Having access to the creek and being able to let my dogs play in the yard is such a wonderful treat for us dog owners. The house was well equity and Mother Nature cooperated to perfection. I'll definitely be back!

We loved Blackberry Bliss so much in the fall that we booked another long weekend there again. It didn't dissappoint. It was a fantastic place to unwind and relax, be cozy and listen to the rain, soak in the hottub and watch the busy humblebirds. Our poodle loved to sniff around the back yard and the creek.The house is well stocked with spices and cookware, and lots of wood for the wood stove.

What a beautiful and sweet little house in the woods. I loved the absolute quiet of the home, and sitting in the hot tub looking at a redwood. Fully stocked kitchen was a very pleasant surprise as well. Russian River Homes was extremely accommodating with my questions and needs during my stay, I was very impressed with them. Fell in love with the venue after seeing photos of the property, especially the beautiful deck surrounded by redwoods. Perfect cabin for a couple. Super quiet. Many spots to choose from to sit and soak up the forest and creek. And a lovely touch to have a number of Hummingbird feeders along the back wall of windows to watch them all. Great place. Highly recommended.

My husband stayed here for our honeymoon and it was even better than we thought. It's so peaceful and beautiful there. The house was very clean and cozy and it was fully equipped with everything you could need. It had all kitchen equipment, shower products and even a full first aid kit. I had a couple questions during my stay and River Homes was so responsive and kind. We will definitely be back!

Wow, what a fun weekend we had a Blackberry Bliss. It was a fun adventure, the cabin is so adorable, well stocked, well kept, much loved sweet paradise in Caz!! I am in love with this cabin and you can tell the owners also do too! Such nice touches throughout, everything in the house was working in perfect condition. The cabin has so many places to look at the amazing majestic redwoods. We were there when the lightning started at 3:00 am and it was so cool to watch from the bedroom slider. Also, Russian River Vacation Homes is so easy and welcoming. I have always used them instead of VRBO as I prefer brick and mortar business'. Very clean cabin, we can't wait to book our next adventure at Blackberry Bliss. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to enjoy your gem!

Perfect Couples Cabin

Blackberry Bliss is the perfect cabin for a couples getaway. The cabin itself has everything you'd need and has a warm, inviting country feel to it. The outside deck is amazing for relaxing, listening to the creek and generally soaking up the peaceful sounds of nature. You can also walk through the beautifully kept garden and head on down to the creek, where you find a little rocky beach with some chairs. Another perfect spot for relaxing! All in all, this little cabin gave this weary urbanite couple a perfect vacation amongst the redwoods. We will DEFINITELY be back!
