We have exciting news to share from just down the road in Occidental.
Coming in early 2027, The Little Bohemian is reimagining the town’s long-dormant Union Motel as a colorful, design-forward boutique hotel—and Russian River Vacation Homes will be operating it.
We’ve spent years welcoming guests to West Sonoma County and helping them experience this special corner of California. The Little Bohemian gives us a new way to do that, bringing the same local knowledge, personal attention, and warm hospitality you know from our vacation homes to an intimate hotel experience.
A 1960s Roadside Motel, Reimagined
Tucked among the redwoods just a short stroll from downtown Occidental, The Little Bohemian is transforming a former 1960s roadside motel into a laid-back retreat designed for slowing down and staying awhile.
The hotel will open with 13 individually designed Garden and Terrace Rooms surrounding a landscaped courtyard, along with a seasonally heated swimming pool, hot tub, saunas, fire pit, and plenty of places to settle in with nowhere else to be.
Later in spring 2027, four mirrored hillside houses will join the property, tucked among the trees with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
The result will be something that feels distinctly Occidental: creative, comfortable, a little unexpected, and deeply connected to its surroundings.
Why Occidental?
If you already know West Sonoma County, you know that Occidental is one of those places that rewards getting a little lost.
Spend the morning over coffee in town, wander the shops and galleries, hike beneath the redwoods, follow a winding road toward the Sonoma Coast, or simply head back to the hotel for an afternoon by the pool. There’s plenty to do around here—but you’ve got our permission to do nothing.
Be Among the First to Stay
Reservations for 2027 will be opening soon, and subscribers to The Little Bohemian’s newsletter will receive early access to booking and special opening offers before they’re released more widely.
