Description

Big Star Farm is your private sanctuary just outside downtown Guerneville, where contemporary craftsmanship meets natural beauty. This custom-built 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home offers a food-lovers kitchen and garden, mid-century modern touches, and lovingly selected local antique furnishings. Through the master bedroom, an elegant step-down 1000-book library and fully equipped office for those who need to work includes a Queen sleeper sofa.

Two cheery gas fireplaces (and central heat) add warmth, a hot tub and custom outdoor 6-person cedar barrel sauna provide relaxation, and a fully equipped gourmet kitchen awaits your culinary adventures. En suite bathrooms attached to each bedroom include Japanese, powered bidet toilets. An expansive wrap-around deck with a propane BBQ, dining table, and lounging areas invites outdoor living. Nearby trails and the adjacent fire road offer miles of hiking and forest bathing, and beautiful starry skies provide a tranquil backdrop for stargazing at night.

The property spans 10+ acres and includes a raised bed garden, a small orchard with 16 types of heirloom fruit trees, a mini-vineyard, and berry patches, creating a personal homestead experience. The gardens and home are situated within a gated, 2.5-acre perimeter, 8 foot high fence – you are welcome to bring your dogs and let them roam without worry.

Tucked away at the end of a rural hillside road, with 1,550 square feet of interior comfort and 1,000 square feet of redwood deck, Big Star Farm is like having your own private redwood forest – even though you’re only minutes from Guerneville’s downtown and river access for more outdoor adventures.

Immersed in nature, Big Star Farm is the perfect retreat for those seeking a quiet escape in the Russian River area. Welcome to your personal paradise!

Beautiful, Peaceful and Private Sanctuary in the Heart of Nature!

Big Star Farm is a wonderful property, especially if you have dogs! It's not often you find somewhere with an 8 foot perimeter fence spanning over 2 acres of Coastal Redwood forest!! Our dogs had so much fun exploring and running around. And we had total peace of mind knowing they were safe. We enjoyed exploring the outdoor space too! It's a perfect blend of wildness and natural beauty with complementary human touches. Lovely, fragrant roses bloom in the gardens. Other colorful flowers and lush greenery surround the old chicken coop. Flat, circular logs create stepping stones. A beautiful raised Redwood boardwalk leads to the sauna. And then there is the huge deck and hot tub. It's an idyllic outdoor space! There is also a great hiking trail directly adjacent to the property, presumably an old logging road. It goes on for miles and you may not see anyone else at all.. The property and surrounding area are extremely private. You really feel like you are completely away from everything, yet you are still close to it all!The interior of Big Star Farm is beautiful too: light and airy with many windows bringing the outside in. You can even enjoy views of the Redwoods from the shower! The water pressure is really great! Better than ours at home! We really liked the layout of the house and enjoyed the well stocked kitchen, the very comfortable living and dining area, and the spacious bedrooms. The library is a real highlight! So many great books! And it must be so cozy in Winter with the wood burning stove. In July we loved sitting there with the door open and our dogs wandering in and out. I really can't say enough good things about this property. It is very special. It has also been a pleasure to work with Russian River Vacation Homes. I had quite a few questions about this home before we booked it and everyone was so helpful with information. Thank you!

Big Star Farm is beautiful, thoughtfully and fully appointed. This home is not equipped like a vacation property, but a modern home. Fantastic internet, great TV, whole home sound system, state of the art LG washer and dryer… and a chef’s kitchen with a great gas range, oven, and big modern appliances - including a Brevelle toaster oven, Instant Pot and LG refrigerator/ freezer with ice machine. In the summer months this is an incredible vacation property - with easy access to the Russian River, vineyards, the spectacular beach at Goat Rock and just 25 minutes from Santa Rosa, with its airport, Whole Foods, Apple Store, all the mod cons. I came for 2 months to write a book – it was the perfect combination of self-contained quiet and total privacy, while still being only 5 minutes from town. For work this home’s library/office cannot be beat. Second monitor for your laptop, an adjustable ergonomic desk, all set in a beautiful wood library complete with actual books from a literate person. You can fully work remotely here, I took video meetings from London, New York, LA and Seattle with out a glitch, from the middle of a Redwood forest. Just out the front gate is great hiking and mountain biking, in silence and solitude. Great bird watching (Stellar’s Jays, Cooper’s hawks and Ospreys, Ravens, Pacific Gnatcatchers, you name it.) Superb deck for the afternoon sun and reading outside. But it is the secluded barrel sauna and hot tub were 10/10, absolutely essential. I’m sure it’s a great place to vacation/relax – but it’s also a prize place to get into deep work mode. Incredible place to focus, recharge, and find yourself. Carefully furnished, loved and cared for. A special and beautiful place…

Manager's Response

Thank you, Steve!!! We're so glad Big Star Farm was the perfect spot for your writing retreat and refresh. We also love this property and want to spend as much time here as possible... Between guests, of course! The garden, mini-orchard, fresh flowers, and "away from it all" feeling remind us of a modern homestead. Life in the woods isn't for everyone, but we love that you loved it!
