The neighborhood is peaceful and walkable, with roads weaving through the forest and toward the river. Minutes beyond, discover Armstrong Woods State Park, where you can walk among some of the world’s tallest and oldest redwoods. Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Artist’s Perch is 4 people not including kids under 3 years old. Quiet hours are from 9:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times. This is a quiet residential neighborhood. Please drive slowly and help us maintain good neighbor relations.

A Note About Our Cleaning Fees: Thank you for supporting our local business! When you stay with us, you support local families at work. We think everyone deserves a decent living wage, and we make sure to set the rates and fees so that our cleaners earn a living wage in beautiful Sonoma County.

Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 2 vehicles along the fence at the street level. RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance. There is no additional street parking. Please be careful to pull vehicles fully off the road to allow room for everyday traffic and emergency vehicles.

Bed Sizes: Primary bedroom (upstairs): Queen bed; Second bedroom (downstairs): King bed.

Heating: This home uses a Nest thermostat for the central heating system in addition to a woodstove in the living room. Firewood and kindling are not provided, but you may use any left at the property. Electric, wall mounted convection Eco-heaters supplement your cozy in the bedrooms and living room.

Cooling: There are 2 portable A/C units set up for guests during warmer weather, typically May 1st to October 15th. And windows have screens.

Kitchen: There is a dishwasher. The kitchen is fully stocked (minus groceries) for your stay. Enjoy an Instapot, Dutch ovens, and other extras in the kitchen.

Bathrooms: Upstairs bathroom: shower over bathtub; downstairs bathroom: shower.

Location: Artist’s Perch is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. To honor this balance, we ask guests to park only along the fence and respect the quiet hours in addition to general family-friendly, residential neighborhood expectations. Thank you for helping to continue the tradition of a mutually beneficial relationship between vacation rentals and local community!

Rural Setting and Critters: We live in a rural area with ants, spiders, rodents, and larger critters from raccoons and mountain lions to bears. While we make the best effort to protect against them from coming into homes, we also do not use poison where it can harm wildlife, pets, and children. And keeping all critters out is simply not possible. We appreciate your help in putting tasty smelling items into refrigerators, proper disposal of trash, and understanding that ants (especially) come in without warning and may not have been present at the time of cleaning.

Cell Phones: Please be aware that many cell phones will not have service at this location. There is WiFi and a house phone.

Road to Artist’s Perch: The house is located up a narrow one-lane road. It is a two-way, one-lane curvy hillside road - fully paved and no special vehicle is required. We provide detailed written driving directions to confirmed guests.

Stairs: There are several sets of stairs at the house: one from the main driveway to the front door with approximately 50 steps. Once inside the house there is one flight of stairs from the main level of the house to the lower level. Please review the floorplan and photos for additional details.

Pet Friendly: This home welcomes up to 2 well-mannered dogs. If you have more than 2 dogs or other types of pets, please contact us to see if exceptions can be made before reserving.

Fencing: The yard is fenced for a mild-mannered, medium to large dog. This may not be enough to keep an exuberant or small dog in the yard. We recommend checking the fence before letting your dog off-leash.

Security Cameras: For the safety of guests and the home, there are 3 security cameras outside - facing the parking area, stairs to the home, and front door.

Work from HERE: Artist's Perch has two workspaces - one on each level - and a top-of-the-line wifi router capable of supporting multiple devices, including multiple zoom video sessions simultaneously. The house has two separate routers for excellent coverage throughout the house and as backup. One workstation includes a motorized sit/stand desk with 34 in curved, widescreen monitor.
Advertised Wifi Speed: Gigabit - consistently 500 mbps

A Note about the TVs and Entertainment: The Smart TVs in the living room and upstairs bedroom are setup with Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, and hundreds of streaming channels. Guests are welcome to bring their login info for these apps and other apps. Televisions do not have cable services. The living room TV is connected to a Bose surround sound home theater system. There is an Xbox in Queen bedroom. Alexa devices throughout the home connect to smart controls for lights and allow the music to flow.

Additional Amenities:
Sauna – A boutique brand, not well known in the US, this Slovenian cedar sauna is unique to Artist’s Perch as very few have been imported to the area. Please follow the safety guidelines. Pack your favorite essential oil to use with the aromatherapy warming bowl. Add a ladle of water and a few drops of oil.

Baby/Kid-Specific Items: A highchair and pack n play are provided.

Lower Suite: The second suite is downstairs and has a great sense of privacy, but there is not a door at the stairs. Curtains add a visual barrier.

Repeat Guests: You’ll love the major update completed in Fall of 2025 and the freshly reimagined home! From the ground up: every room, surface, and detail is designed to create a refined redwood retreat.

Driving Distances:
Proximity to wineries: The closest wine tasting rooms are in downtown Guerneville - approx. 1 mile.
Nearest River Beach: The nearest river access/beach is a neighborhood beach 0.5 mi from the house - though the beach is variable. Johnson's Beach is close (1.3 mi) - an all-around fabulous place to enjoy the river, rent boats, inner tubes, beach umbrellas, and grab a beer and bite to eat - when they are open for summer. Otherwise, you can wander the beach, but the boats and concession stand will not be available. Dogs are not allowed at Johnson's Beach when they are open for the season.
Nearest Ocean Beach: There are many ocean beaches along the Sonoma coast, but one of the closest is Goat Rock State Beach just south of Jenner - 13 miles from the house. One of the beaches at Goat Rock is dog friendly.
Distance to Downtown Guerneville: The downtown Guerneville Safeway is 1.1 mi.
River Electric Swim Club: 1.9 mi.
Northwood Golf Course: 4.2 mi.

The house is as described :) Here are some things I would add to the description: - there are many steps down a steep incline from the road to the house. Nbd for us, but anyone with mobility issues take note. - road noise from the highway below is noticeable. Not a major issue at all in my opinion, but not super quiet if that’s important to you. - the house could use a tad more in the way of kitchen stuff. (There’s only one cutting board, etc.) Easily remedied which I would recommend to the property management company. If you’re planning to really cook, I’d bring some of your own implements. :) -via Airbnb

We had a very nice stay and the house is cute with a really nice kitchen and outdoor deck. Comfortable beds and sofa. The redwoods are stunning. Helpful hosts. Short drive to Guerneville. There is a sort of hidden river beach technically walkable (~12 mins) from the house as well. Couple considerations for future guests: – You can hear quite a bit of road noise (highway 116) from the deck. This made it feel less peaceful to us than we would have wished. – Because of the surrounding trees, the house and deck can feel a bit dark. We've stayed in other nearby places that were also surrounded by redwoods but got more direct sunlight.-via Airbnb

Lovely artist perch in the trees. Patio felt private, and we spent a lot of time outdoors cooking and hanging out. Our dog loved it. Be ready to tackle the stairs in and out. This home is conveniently located in the Russian River area. Grocery store and beaches right around the corner. We appreciated that the house has A/C (many in this area do not) given that we were here for some of the hottest days this summer. Beds and linens are top notch and the house had great amenities all around.

What a lovely getaway! This home was BETTER than the pictures and was so quiet and peaceful. Beautiful and cozy home nestled in the redwoods. My only complaint here was the electrical was a tad wonky. The switches didn’t turn any of the kitchen lights on and the bathroom light didn’t work, even after the property management company sent someone over. I didn’t love these inconveniences, but it also didn’t stop me from enjoying the home. -via Airbnb

This home in the woods was the perfect getaway. Lovely, comfy home with all the amenities you would need. Well-stocked kitchen, plenty of towels and washcloths, a peaceful outdoor area, and a great hot tub. We didn't need any contact with the River Homes during our stay but they sent messages every day asking if all was good. Easy check-in and check-out. Do follow their instructions for parking--there is only room for 2 cars as they state and if you're not used to these narrow winding roads, you might find parking difficult...but the home is well marked. We especially loved all the wireless chargers available for our phones--2 in each bedroom and 1 in the living area. The stairs to the home will give you a bit of a workout but this was covered well in the listing. All in all, a great cozy little home. -via Airbnb

It was an easy process booking this great little home in the woods. Communication with Russian River Vacation homes was excellent. We didn't need to reach them during our stay but they stayed in constant communication with us by text and email if we had any questions. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you might need to prepare and serve meals; the couch is very comfortable, and the beds are great. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub but didn't get to spend much time on the decks as the weather wasn't the best. In Summertime this outdoor space would be frequently used. An added touch that was nice was the abundance of wireless chargers--in each bedroom and in living room. As others have pointed out, the stairs to get into the home and out give you a bit of a workout....but we knew about them due to the description in the listing. Believe also when you read that parking is strictly limited to 2 smaller vehicles; the road is quite narrow. All in all, our weekend stay was great and we'd recommend this home... The artwork and decor was an added bonus.

The place was beautiful and cozy. Surrounded by a canopy of Redwood trees gave it a cabin in the middle of the forest feeling. The hosts were responsive and had clear instructions. The town is nearby for any daily needs or food. The parking could be a bit tight. Both of our cars were full size but we were able to find parking pretty easily on the street. -via Airbnb

When I first saw the amount of stairs to walk down to the house from the road, I was nervous. But when entering this cozy cabin, I realized that it's actually nicer than the pictures convey. This is a very well-appointed home, with quality linens, blankets, appliances, etc. The art all around is beautiful, and it includes lots of convenient and techy touches. The hot tub was great! It's also super close to Guerneville and Safeway to get food and supplies quickly. It is fairly near a bigger road, so you can hear some road noise when you're outside, so if that is a concern – or if 50+ stairs is a concern – you might want to look elsewhere. But overall, it's a super cozy and comfortable Redwood getaway!-via Airbnb

Great stay, tons of narrow stairs to get down to the property from the road, worth the trek though. Neighboring dog barked constantly when we were on the patio but not the house or host's fault. Overall great house in a great location. We will stay again when we return to Guerneville.-via Airbnb

An absolutely beautiful place for a sojourn in the woods that is still a quick 5-minute drive from the center of Guerneville. The highlight is the beautiful hot tub on the large deck area outside, which includes a grill, couches, an outdoor dining table, and festive lights at night. The kitchen is also great, and the fact that the bedrooms and on two different floors, both with large bathrooms, is a total plus. Be sure to take a photo of the gate, door, and wifi codes and other entrance information before you arrive, as the cell phone service is spotty up there. However, the wifi is great once you're connected. Fabulous place - I've already recommended it to many friends!-via Airbnb

We loved our stay at The Artist's Perch, it was a great week-long place to call home - and we did feel like we were at home. Of course, our only complaint would be the giant stairway down into the house (50+ steps!) - it was a pain to lug our bags and groceries down and to take the bags and trash, etc. out after our visit, but that's our only complaint. This home is a hidden jewel set in peaceful surroundings. It has a special coziness about it and once inside, we didn’t want to leave. We loved the beautiful original paintings throughout. The two bedrooms are on separate floors offering a nice level of privacy as well. If you have mobility issues please take note, like most Guerneville homes, it does have lots of stairs but once inside you may never want to leave.-via Airbnb

Artist’s Perch is an incredible escape into the redwoods. We spent so much time out on the deck and in the hot tub enjoying the majestic trees all around. Inside the couch is a comfy place to hang out, tv was easy to use, and the beds were quite comfortable. The house is a little bit hard to find and there are a couple of flights of stairs to get down to the house, but once inside it is a dream! Would love to come back very soon.-via Airbnb

Can't express enough how beautiful the property is. Of all of the places I've stayed, this one was fully stocked with everything you needed, I'm especially impressed with all of the kitchen amenities- cooking meals was so easy and stress free! From the start of booking, arriving, and departure, Alyssa was wonderful with her communication, and the River homes team. There's another portal for additional info and communication they'll give you directly linked to your email- you can't go wrong with how thorough they are in this department. It rained two of the three nights we stayed, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the hot tub which comfortably fit the four of us, with plenty of room! Though central heating isn't tied into the bedrooms, there's plenty of heaters available. The entire place felt like home, filled with games, and books you can read and are encouraged to take! Even our dog Miles loved the place, we forgot his dog bowls and they had extra! I would stay again!-via Airbnb

Home is as cozy, quiet and creatively decorated as shown in photos. Space allowed for quality time amongst friends/family with a sense of being in the middle of the woods. Any more than four guest would feel a bit cramped. Kitchen is small but fine for small easy meals. Coffee maker, toaster, pots/pans, rice cooker, instant pot, and dishes were all available and well stocked. Wifi was great but we had to use home's landline to order take out. Verizon cellular data had reception, but AT&T didn't. Jacuzzi was nice and hot. Stairs weren't bad but not recommended for those with mobility challenges. There is dedicated parking above the property but space was tight for two compact SUVs along the fence. Location not ideal for dog walks and bathroom breaks. The one lane road felt safe and residence drove slow, but just not typical for dogs to do their business along the road with few open areas.-via Airbnb

Loved our stay. The place was beautiful and equipped with everything we needed. The porch area was phenomenal and the perfect place to relax. Check in at 4pm was a little later than we would have hoped but noon check out made up for it. Beautiful area and the place was great. Just like the pictures and description. The patio was great to relax with the others and we enjoyed the grill. It was wonderful to have the hit tub. Only factor is you need to be able to climb 45 steps to carry your items. Great lighting everywhere. Parking is tricky - only 2 spaces for all 6 guests and road is narrow but drivable. It was close to a few beaches on the river that were accessible and relaxing to use floating devices and our Kayaks. Restaurants and stores were nearby. We have a lovely stay!-via Airbnb

This house has great style and a very well stocked kitchen. I love cooking and I'm always worried the kitchen will not have what I need to make a great dinner. it's a gorgeous view from both inside and the porch! The art was also all beautifully painted. We brought bikes to be able to ride into town as it's only a mile. What we didn't realize was how steep the incline to the property is and how many steps it took to get in to the house. Bikes were not really a viable option. I highly recommend it his place with all its amenities assuming you don't need ADA compliance and are okay driving to and from town.-via Airbnb

This is a wonderfully-cozy retreat for anyone looking for a quiet getaway in the Russian River area. As many have attested to before, the stairs from the street to the home are very steep...just be prepared and pack well so you're not carrying anything too heavy. The beds and sofa were super cozy, the hot tub was easy to use, and the kitchen had everything you need + more I would say. Waking up to the views of the tall trees directly outside of the window is exactly as great as you would imagine. The location is also great as you're basically less than a 5 minute drive to the main part of town, and even closer to a Safeway for all grocery needs.-via Airbnb

We enjoyed our time at the house, which had plenty of room for two of us. The kitchen is well-stocked with equipment, but I recommend packing food storage containers or ziplock bags for any leftovers you may have. The area is fairly quiet other than some road noise and it's nice to be surrounded by trees, but you are not secluded—there are a couple of houses next door with views of the property/back deck. We've been to many Airbnbs all around California. This one is easily one of the best ones. The place was fully equipped, while still being cozy and homey. Great location, entertainment options, hot tub, just everything. We loved every minute of it! note - the staircase from street to house and from first floor to bottom floor is very steep, so if you have any walking/climbing challenges, you should skip it. This property was amazing. Surrounded by stunning redwood trees, along with a perfectly sun-dappled patio; it felt like a true retreat from the City. A working fireplace made for a cozy night in on our last day. Beautifully decorated, a few unexpected amenities (multiple charging docks in every room!) and meticulously clean. We needed an escape from the craziness of the past two years and decided to find a rental in The Guerneville Area. We try to deal exclusively with River home rentals because we always end up with great experiences. Again was not disappointed. The amazing canopy of redwood trees and the well appointed outdoor spaces, kitchen and living area were better than what we were expecting. The master bedroom on the lower level was its own little sanctuary and provided some of the best nights sleep in a long time. Definitely will be returning in the future.

My husband and I loved, loved our stay at Artist's Perch. We loved everything about the home. Some key highlights were the fully stocked kitchen, we cooked every night we were there, the beautiful deck with hot tub, the house is immaculately clean, new washer and dryer, Alexa in every room, beautiful artwork, bathrooms are large and beautiful. I took the bathroom downstairs and husband took the one upstairs. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back!

The house is in the middle of several redwoods and gives a foresty feel, even though town is close by. The two decks, one with a delightful hot tub, allow you to enjoy that peaceful feeling. The house is very nicely decorated and provides all the necessities you might want.

Beautiful spot just outside of town surrounded by the redwoods! Perfect location to jump around wine tasting for two ladies and our fur babies. Hot tub was clean and bubbly with the right amount of heat. Kitchen was equipped with basic cooking needs. All around a well thought-out space for anyone looking to get away.

What a beautiful and cozy property! Well-appointed kitchen, so you should be able to cook most meals unless you need very specialized equipment. The couch was so comfy, a perfect spot to curl up with a book after a dip in the hot tub or a nearby hike. The deck was spacious and just lovely to spend time on. We loved the many windows overlooking the trees; you feel like you're right in nature, yet still close to civilization. We also loved how private it felt. Do be advised, there are quite a few stairs to get down to the house, and also once you're inside, so be aware of that if anyone in your party may have mobility issues. We would absolutely stay here again!

This place exceeded our expectations! I did not want to leave! The decor and art were beautiful and really adds life to the home. There are large windows in every room so you can enjoy the views of the beautiful sequoia trees. They provided everything we needed and more, even bowls for our pup! The deck was our favorite part, especially the relaxing hot tub! They really went above and beyond in making sure your stay is the best. I could go on and on about this place because it was that amazing! We hope to return soon when we are in need of another relaxing getaway.

Stylish and cozy! This is a great place to hang out and relax. The kitchen is well equipped, the living room is spacious and comfortable, and the grill and hot tub on the deck are a perfect way to end the day. Beaches and oceans are nearby (try exploring the tide pools at Shell Beach) and the food in town is amazing (try the pork shoulder or vegan bowl at “boon eat + drink”).--via AirBnB

Artists Perch is THE PERFECT place to really get away and enjoy natural beauty. The home is so quiet and cozy, the perfect size for two or three people, and the outdoor patio and hot tub are fantastic amenities. It's a very cute home with GREAT ART everywhere, and all the tech you need to relax and enjoy the quiet--basically ways to play music (although the full tv/cable/wifi is avail, and that was awesome because there's no phone service!). The stairs aren't as daunting as they look, and the kitchen is perfect to cook in--not too big or too small. I cannot recommend Artists Perch enough!!!via AirBnB

My husband and stayed at The Artist Perch with another couple. We needed a getaway from it all and we had two events we attended in the area. We loved this space. It is centrally located and close to all the river amenities. Grocery store is minutes away, but the kitchen is totally stocked with the basics, delicious coffee, condiments gourmet salts and special goodies etc. We found this really welcoming and convenient b/c many rentals don't have this. The appointments, art and special design touches were stellar. The outside space was my favorite , but our friends were blown away by the quality of towels and linens. We will definatley go back to this property.

We really enjoyed our relaxing stay at the Artist Perch. The layout of the house is really nice. I especially liked having the deck right off the kitchen. We ate all our meals outside. The house is really comfortable, well-stocked and decorated very nicely. My husband and I slept downstairs and it felt like we had our own apartment. Very quiet and tranquil. I also really enjoyed the beach which was a very close walk. It was so comfortable that once we arrived the only reason we left was to go to the beach! Sitting in the hot tub under the Redwoods was perfect before bedtime! I look forward to our next visit. Manager Response:Thank you for the review!
