Description

Austral Moon is a seasoned vacation rental with fresh, contemporary stylings. Smart electronics and chic décor make it easy to get away from home for a few nights or longer. With two spacious bedrooms and a full bathroom located off the living room, it's the perfect space for two couples or a family. There's ample seating in the living room to hang out or play one of the provided Xbox games. At Austral Moon you can keep in touch with the outside world and work - if you must - at a desk with a printer and work space.

Or mosey up the hillside backyard to the new deck lounge and hot tub. In fair weather, a hammock beckons in the dappled light of redwoods and bay laurel trees. A great neighborhood beach on the Russian River is a short stroll from the house and downtown Guerneville (with an amazing selection of restaurants for such a small town) is just a couple minutes by car. Tired of eating out? Pick up local produce and groceries to grill and eat alfresco on the front deck.

Know Before You Book:

Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours:
The maximum occupancy at is 4 people. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

Parking:
There is parking for 2 cars in the driveway. Street parking is scarce. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

Bed Sizes:
First bedroom: Cal King bed; Second bedroom: Queen bed.

Heat Source:
This house uses smart thermostat for the central heating system. There's also a gas stove in the living room.

A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the night time temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house.

Security Camera:
There is an active security camera facing the parking area, garbage cans and the street.

Stairs:
There's a flight of stairs at the front of the house from the parking area to the front deck and house entrance. There are several stairs at the side of the house and railroad tie-style stairs built into the hillside leading to the hot tub and lounge deck.

Fencing:
The yard is not fenced, but non-escape artist dogs will appreciate a small dog run in the backyard.

Proximity to Wineries:
Korbel Winery is the closest winery at 4.5 miles - though there are closer tasting rooms in downtown Guerneville.

Nearest River Beach:
The nearest river access is .3 mile.

Nearest Ocean Beach:
The coastal beaches in Jenner are approx. 15 miles.

We rented Austral Moon for a little getaway for my 40th birthday. With COVID, we didn't think we were going to be able to celebrate at all but this place was the perfect getaway. It's fully stocked and they went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Between the robes, the fans in the room, the games that are provided, it was very homey. We also enjoyed that the kitchen was fully stocked. The only downsides were that there is no AC and we happened to be there on 2 days where it was 104 and that the reception is pretty terrible. There is complimentary WiFi but even that was slow at times. Even with those 2 very minor setbacks, we will definitely be back!!

This house was perfect for our extended weekend getaway. We really enjoyed everything the house had to offer including the hot tub, the games, and the fully stocked kitchen. It really has everything you need and more! It was also a great location with a quick drive to Johnson Beach and downtown Guerneville. I highly recommend this place!

What a delightful place. The location is beyond charming and feels lovely. And just minutes from town. Clean and simple accommodations. Plenty of nice amenities, we enjoyed the Hot tub particularly. Will definitely be back.

We had an amazing time. Enjoyed morning coffee and breakfast on the front patio, very comfortable beds, easy access to the river, and — oh, the hot tub! I will dream about that awesome hot tub forever. It was all easy, clean and relaxing.

This place is great. It is well stocked with nice cookware and appliances. The balcony has a nice view - but you can't see the river from there. (As they say, its just a short walk away). The neighborhood is quiet and nice. We had a lovely time.

This is a great place and close to Guerneville downtown and other activities including Johnson's beach and Armstrong redwoods. House is very clean, well organized and the neighborhood is very quiet. We will definitely stay here when we visit here next time.

It was a pleasure to stay at this cute cabin and the location was exactly what we needed for our getaway to Guerneville. Easy walking distance to two small public spots on the river, and a quick drive into town whenever we wanted ice cream at Nimble & Finn's! We were also only 10 minutes away from the beach at Monte Rio where dogs are allowed. We liked sitting outdoors on the front patio in the mornings, and enjoyed using the new bbq grill. The bathrobes were a nice welcoming touch and we all loved using the hot tub to relax in the evenings.

We were pleasantly surprised that a dog friendly house was so clean. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed during our stay and everything was labeled for convenience. The porch areas were a nice touch. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. All the electronics were up to date and a nice touch during relaxing evenings. It was slightly further than we thought from the river but still close. There was a nice playground close by for our kids. Town was just a short drive away but pretty far from Safeway. We definitely enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Well maintained, updated home in quiet riverside neighborhood. Hosts were thoughtful about many basic amenities (WiFi, beach towels, fans, cable/connected TV), which made the stay that much more enjoyable. Didn’t spend time on the deck - too hot, given direct sun during daylight - or in the hot tub, but both set ups seemed nice. Location was easy, though did require a car to go downtown or to other spots in the area. Phone service was spotty at best, but WiFi kept us connected all weekend.

Had an amazing time at the Austral Moon! It was a last-minute booking (less than 24 hours) and there were no problems.  We cooked dinner the first night, and everything we needed was provided. The location is great, just a few minutes from the downtown area. Great trails for jogging, close to river. A+

We enjoyed our stay here in Guerneville. The house is very big and spacious. It was super clean and had everything we needed! It is mentioned in the description but you will definitely need to drive to the Main Street of Guerneville. Just something to be aware of.

This rental was everything you could hope for: clean, modern, and cozy. Everything was new, worked well (washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc) and is stocked with all the necessary dishes and cookware. Not sure if it was on purpose, but one bed has a firm mattress and the other has a soft/memory foam type, which is great if you have a specific preference for either. The cabin house is far enough away for peace and quiet and close enough for a 5 minute drive to downtown (or a cab for when you’re full of wine.) To wrap up, staying at Austral Moon was a great experience and we’ll definitely be back!

This was a great place for a 4 night stay. The home is clean and comfortable and as described. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. We enjoyed the cosy environment the home provided with a gas fireplace and plush carpets in the living and bedroom area. This would also be a great getaway for the summer, although it was a little too cold for us to make use of the Deck. We would stay here again if we return to the Russian River.

Wonderful place close to downtown. Attention has been put into making this place a cozy retreat, including a gas fireplace, grill, and cleanliness. A hot tub with the forest at your back and stars in the sky is hard to beat.
