You are here

All of Russian River Vacation Homes are privately owned and furnished by the homeowners, so you’ll see a wide variety of décor and inventory in homes, but we make sure the basics are here for you when you arrive. You may need to purchase additional supplies during your stay.

These items are provided at each home:
  • Sheets, blankets, and pillows for each advertised bed and sleeper sofa.
  • Bathing towels – a body towel, hand towel, and wash cloth per person the home sleeps.
  • Basic cooking utensils: silverware, plates, glassware, pots & pans, etc.
  • Some spices, salt & pepper, and cooking oil.
  • Starter supplies of soap: bar or soft soap, laundry detergent, dish soap, and dishwasher detergent if the home has a dishwasher.
  • Starter supply of paper products: toilet paper (generally one roll per person the house sleeps) and at least one full roll of paper towels.
  • A fresh sponge at the kitchen sink.
  • Shampoo & conditioner or a combo product.
  • Propane at the BBQ for gas BBQ’s.
  • BBQ tools.
Items that are not provided, but if they are there, you are welcome to use them:
  • Charcoal and associated products for charcoal BBQ’s.
  • Spa/Pool/Beach towels – these have the greatest tendency to disappear, so you may want to bring your own. And we request that the bathing towels not leave the home/bathroom!
  • Kitchen pantry items.
  • Firewood and kindling – most homes with wood burning stove or fireplace do not provide firewood, but many local stores do if you want to wait to buy it here.
Additional items you may want to pack:
  • Everything you need for a sunny day at the river or out for a walk: sunscreen, a beach towel, flip flops or water shoes, a hat and sunglasses, beach chairs, water floaties and bike pump (many local stores will inflate floaties that you purchase there, but the gas stations are not so friendly about filling floaties), and, of course, water and snacks.
  • Anything you need for a hike: sturdy shoes and comfy socks, hat and sunscreen, backpack, water, snacks, trail map or guide.
  • All the dog stuff! If you’re staying at a dog-friendly home and bringing your canine buddy, you’ll want to bring everything s/he needs to be comfortable and a little extra. We highly recommend flea and tick medication and brushing up on how to remove a tick. Since we ask that dogs not hop directly onto furniture, you can bring a blanket to put on the sofa or bed before inviting your dog up. Some homes have furniture covers, but not all. “Calming” medications or treatments for nervous or first-time travelers. Kennel or crate for leaving your pup alone at the property. Please do not leave you dog unattended and loose in the house or closed in a room without a crate. This is a new place, and s/he may act out. Your dog’s leash (yes, there’s a leash law), collar (with tags), and lots and lots of poop bags!
  • Chargers for all your devices – you may not have cell service here and your phone will use up lots of battery searching for service. Just remember to grab them when you go home too!
  • Stuff for the kids – they are going to play harder and sleep harder (we hope) in a new location. But they will want familiar things too. Some homes have pack-n-plays and highchairs, but most don’t. We have a couple at the office for rent if you need. Check the home’s listed amenities to see if these are provided.
